Fuel Pump Issues I searched I searched!!!
Ok guys I was looking through the forum for a similar issue and found nothing.
So my problem has been a downward spiral with my electric things on my car. When i first got the car the fuse to the fuel pump was a 10 and it's supposed to be a 15 and it would just crank and crank and I noticed the fuel pump wasn't turning on the 10 amp fuse was burnt at the bottom so I replaced it with a 15 amp, and it was fine. Well months later the car wouldn't start again. I pulled out the fuse checked it and it was fine. didn't blow put the fuse back in and it was fine car started up but after that every week it would do it again. the fuse is fine but it needed to be pulled out and put back in. It was getting progressively worse Instead of once a week I'd have to change it once a day, then 3 times a day, Until today, Now the car will crank and crank and the fuel pump will not prime at all anymore even though I replaced the fuse with 3 other 15 amp fuses. Do you think my pump went out? Or maybe the ground possibly got loose? Like I said it just kept getting progressively worse which makes me scratch my head. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you have a definitive answer or something that worked with you please pm me. Thank you. |

just change your pump. if you pull the fuse and its good, pulling it out and putting it back in does nothing. so its more likely that the wiring is bad behind your fusse box

check the connector inside the fuse box where the fuse plugs in. it could be loose or corroded. check for 12 volts with the key on and check for a solid ground. trace back where the ground is and check the ground connection. done.

You've got a short to ground somewhere, or your fuel pump is shorted. I'd say test for the short to ground first, and if it's inconclusive, test the resistance of your fuel pump. I don't know the spec, but if you have another fuel pump, test it, the reading should be the same. I made a write-up how to do those tests.
