Attention: authentic silvia owners
that has the boost solinoid still hooked up to there car of coarse to Just to bury the debate once and for all about the stock boost being 11psi or 7psi
Please chime in since its litterally a 50/50 debate half of zilvians say 7 or 11, Almost everyone that has the sr swap doesnt have the silinoid so lets hear it from the real silvia owners and kill the age old topic on this forum. Edit:authentic silvia owners with the sr20det of course. |

Not 11, thats for damn sure. IIRC, with the solenoid in, its actually lower than what the stock actuator go for. Something like .5 but if you run straight off the solenoid, its up to .7.

Thank you,Thats exactlly what I wanted to see when I made this thread and it was hittin you said about .7 and a half bar in that vid,Which is 10-11 psi.I'm glad you made the vid to really prove the facts,Especially when half the community is under using there setups but the thing I was thinking now is if someone has a 240 with a sr swap they really should'nt run 10-11psi untill they upgrade the fuel pump since the stock KA one would seem to max itself out correct? So in theory the sidemount is still officiant at that boost level just change out the n/a fuel pump then run the boost that was intended.

Very true. Plus, i heard japanese gas stations usually carry gasoline with higher octane ratings than we do, is this true? (whomever is/has been in japan please confirm)

I dont live in japan but I did do some research on it and japan its not uncommon to see 100 octane at the pump but the thing is they use i different way to calculate it then us state side,We use "AKI" they use the "RON" system which in turn japans 100 octane would be a lower then 100 octane rating by ounited states measurement but I'm not sure by how much,Ima google rescue real quick.
EDIT: I googled it heres whats up japan 100 RON Octane x 0.95 = 95 AKI Octane (US measure so our cheap unleaded usa 91 Octane = 95.5 Octane japan so thats good news its actually pretty dang close, well my state carrys mostly 93 octane |

i lived in japan for 4 yrs and yes the octane is better. trust me i could tell the difference from on-base 93 octane to off-base regular gas. w/e u googled might be right but the butt dyno felt a diff.

Shit I can tell the difference when I look in my wallet. My car will always be tuned with base' shitty gas no matter what. No fucking way I'd pay over $5 per gallon for my POS gas guzzler. I'm having a good week if I see 250 km on a full tank in my S14.

i can tell from having a jdm s14 and 2 of my freinds has original jdm cars (s14) and pulsar gti-r
and for sure the original boost is 6-7 psi not 11 at all maybe these ppl have a wrong selenoid or plugged the wrong side |

The Video is a J-Spec 180SX BONE STOCK only BOV and Intake filter are installed. As you can see on the Greddy Gauge its shows .7ish Stock boost = 10ish PSI If the system is hooked up wrong then the turbo would over boost seeing around 18-20psi... so no the STOCK system is not hooked up wrong. You would probably see .4 -.5 Bar if the boost solenoid was bypassed and a Vac line was connected directly to the W/G. S14 might be lower since they run the same injectors with a larger turbo.... but you'll have to show me some evidence.

Wow. Really? The t25 wastegate is 7psi. The solenoid acts as a boost controller and brings it up to 11psi.
Tell me how the fuck you get lower boost with the solenoid. |

Over $5 a gallon? thats insane! I searched that octane conversion, there were many sources on google for it, but I guess we have living proof right here. Someone mentioned earlier about the different fuel pumps, now I'm sure SR equipped cars dont use the same pumps as KA equipped cars, so which stock pump is it? I doubt it's the same as a Z32, or a Q45

Boost with Stock W/G With only Vac line is probably like 5-7psi But not sure Boost with Stock Boost solenoid is 10-11psi So you get higher boost with the solenoid

also I was talking to a friend he told me that if Im running 10 psi he said the stock ka radiator isnt sufficiant,Since I don t have a nice radiator and just the stock ka one I hooked up my dsm electric fan to a toggle,With the electric fan and ka rad will this be enough cooling for 10-11 psi
is there even a difference in the 240sx radiator and the silvia one? |

Also with a just slight octane advantage in japan would it be wise to retard the timing a degree or two for the people that live in the united states since our octane is off a few points?Or would a few octane not even matter?
