quick question...what would you guys say is a good Keg beer...if not great

idk about that honestly.
I've had beer 'on tap' that was more inconsistent than bottled beer. Don't think I've had anything on tap that was particularly better than bottled. Now some great bars (I.e. Father's Office in Culver City, CA) can offer that consistency w/ draft. However, usually I've had better luck w/ consistency with bottles over draft. Guess it really depends on the establishment serving the drinks more than anything else. Even bottled beer stored poorly and/or past it's due can be less than optimal. Maybe esp if the beer bottle is clear (vs. colored). |

Haha yeah I know what you mean! The only ones that drink dark beer in my family is my older brother and me. To make it worse I made his ass start drinking it! Yeah I just need a Pack of New Castle and I'm set for the night. The only thing that sucks is that it's a bit pricey compared to other beers.

Just came back from Portland, OR.
Honestly there wasn't a local beer (within the state) that impressed me. Tried a bunch of stuff from Widmer (which I didn't care for to begin with), Bridgeport, & Rogue. Also tried a bunch of smaller brewery stuff on tap at restaurants. Can't remember anything b/c nothing was memorable. Makes me appreciate CA breweries just that much more. |

its all comes down to storage like ^you said.
Temperature is key! The best beers ive had on tap have been at small bars where they only have a few on the tap. The way i see it the less beers there are, the less chance they have of sitting stagnent in lines/tap system. A smaller tap selelction probably pushes more beer consistantly than lets say a bar with a 150 beers on tap. Ill take a tap beer anyday over a bottled one though thats for sure. unless its like two weeks old. BTW if anyone is interested in learning how to brew, one of the engineers at my company is a brew master and is teaching a free class in august at one of the homebrew stores. if any one local is down ill find out details. I believe its in long beach.

Lately I've been trying to buy local because in all honesty the popular light beers are all terrible, I've pretty much stopped drinking them altogether, unless I'm partying hard.
Flying Dog is brewed in Maryland and makes some great beer. I just picked up some of these today actually, In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen. ![]() As Hunter S. Thompson puts it, "Good people drink good beer." And chances are you have some good local beer brewed in your area. I'd rather support small local business over corporations any day. I'm not a beer snob by any means, I just like good beer. |

I felt Orion was really flat & boring (not unlike most Japanese commercial beers)
I think Sapporro is the most tolerable among say Orion, Asahi, Kirin, etc. Yebisu is def more to my liking. Hitachino Nest brews are fun too. Drank so much of their white ale last yr, I got a little tired of it. Can drink Yebisu all the time however and never tire of it. |

Had one of these last night. Liked it. You can hardly tell it's carbonated.

ive never been a fan of those kind of beers...that leave a semi sweet taste... im even borderline guiness sometimes due to the chocolaty taste it sometimes leaves...lol i just like a really cold, crisp beer...man when we acidently leave em in the freezer to long, and they get just a tiny bit slushy...best fucking thing during summer hands down...

^ contents: water, sugar, and PURPLE!
I started drinking while my parents were stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. Heidelberger was readily available at gas station and bars. I'd like to find where i can get some. I was only 16 when i left Germany.... It was socially accepted in Germany btw. ![]()
