FMIC opinion

I'm droppin an S14 SR into my 95 240 and I was just wondering if anyone had any recomendations for a front mount. I'm looking not to exceed $1000 and probably will not be making more than 400 rwhp anytime in the near future. Also, tube/fin or bar/plate? Thank you.

TRY THE SEARCH BUTTON. but heres help.

ok if you are looking for somthing under 1G you might as well go Greddy or HKS. These are the only kits i know not exceeding 1G. although, different models do cost different prices. if you want, eBay has some great deals, just be carefull tho. Phase2 sells intercooler cores i think, so try to hook up on one of those and get the piping from them or ask your local junk yard to make you pipes. or try going stock OEM FMICs like the starion, lancer, neon, etc. theres tons. 1G is a lot of money. good luck.

ps- TRY THE SEARCH BUTTON! IT DOES WONDERS!

A Porsche 944 Turbo's Intercooler makes an excellent donor and can be had off of E-bay or your local wrecking yards for less than $200. Its a high flow Bar and Plate design and is capable of supporting HP up to 450!

Good Luck!

don't get a universal greddy/hks blah blah blah kit unless ur gonna be achieving large hp #'s. Why? those intercoolers are WAY too big for a 250hp car. Yes, they help but an properly sized ic will work even better. My suggestion would be spearco...... great craftmanship and great prices too.

Check if you can get an intercooler from a Mitsu Starion/Dodge Conquest.

Totally agree with BeteNoir on a mitsu I/C. Much cheaper and good enough for what you're aiming. Try Galant VR4.

The older, smaller Isuzu NPR box truck intercoolers flow amazingly well for the price and application. You used to be able to find them pretty cheap but they are now around $300. Other intercoolers that flow well/are cheap___Saab 9-3 Viggen front mounted, Escort cosworth (used in group A running close to 30 psi)incredibly efficeient for size, stock R32 and R33 GTR, Galant VR4 RS, Evo I-III

Why do ppl insist on telling other people to search even if the topic is one that hasn't been beaten to death, or isn't brought up that much?

I'd say go with a HKS kit or Greddy kit if you are thinking you're gonna be making 400hp in the near future, or even just in the future.

gsracer- can you e-mail me with the pics and parts you used for your FMIC project? I tried e-mailing you but the zilvia thing said you blocked your e-mail.

Thanks!

I have the hks type-s on my 240. Would recommend the kit to anyone - good quality, handles up to 500hp, easy to install, and comes w/ everything you need to install the kit. Phase2motortrend sells the kit for $830.

The NPR's are good choices. There are two sizes and for your power goals the smaller one will do just fine. Heres the small NPR on my friends CRX:

yea and if you're running it on a basically stock SR, like you are......... it's going to effectively rob hp cause that ic is built to handle like 600hp.

Get a smaller more efficient ic. Spearco makes the best IC's out there, bar none.
