inner and outer tie rod question

I just recently bought an s14, the guy i bought it from had replaced the tension rods with teins. the steering has some play, he said it was control arm bushings, but to me it seems like tie rods. i definitely want to "beef" them up a bit. should i go tein, a diffrent brand or a mix and match. im located in dallas theres someone local selling some "hard race" tie rods w/ ends, has any one heard of these, if so how are they? if not what would yall suggest, thanks for any input!

Jack the car up and see where the play is coming from before replacing random parts.

Never heard of hard race tie rods. If you need tie rods/ends and got the money I suggest SPL. If not Tein factory replacements are fine.

i second az 240 jack up car so both wheels are off ground. set car on jack stands. Have someone sit in the car and move the steering wheel side to side (or within the zone that has play) and look at the rack. If the steering shaft is moving but the rack gear(the part the inner tie rod is connected to) is not then its the steering rack. If the rack is ok then it could most likely be the tierods.. But since a set (outter and inner) of Tein or SPL wont run u that much might as well change em up anyway. ps i have never heard of hard race
