Went down with starting fluid, a shitload of tools, a couple a cans of fix a flat, and drove that bad bitch home!!! The 1963 Ford F100 I bought started up first try with a little ether.

Only snag was there weren't any brakes. Hehehehe. But my landlord and I said "fudge it" and drove it up anyway. Though it was dark, the lights worked! Bonus!! Fortunately it's real low geared. Just shut off the engine in first to stop it. Had my landlord drive Eleanor behind me with the flashers on. Must have passed about 10 cops (seriously). One minivan passed us in a no passing zone and this suburban sheriff took off and pulled him over.

So now it's sitting in my driveway, and my ass has recovered from the honest to goodness tree stump for a seat. The engine runs sweet as ####. Mad torque whore.

That's the story. Can of fix a flat and two cracked old tires but they held.

Sounds like fun, but did you have to get a F@$&, I am going to start building a 383 with a suprercharger soon, maybe it will end up in the project car I bought last weekend, it's a 62 Volvo 122S sedan.

Actually, I'm the least likely to kick anyone's ass unless I have a really good reason. Then again, there are just those times when it's fun.

Rory: My buddy up here has a 64 Volvo 122S. Sweet fucking cars. He has a parts car as well, I think it's a little younger. If you need any contacts, I'll talk to him. He's found a lot of good people for Volvo stuff.

I'll post some pics soon. I'm already checking the junkyards for fender/original steering wheel, and a bench seat.

First on the list is completely redoing the brake system. New master cylinder, lines, etc. Should cost about 60 bucks. heheheh. I love the price drop. My Nissan would be around 160 or more. I still love it though. Had to go talk to her after I brought the Ford home. I think she felt neglected. I'll probably have her for another 2 or 3 months though.

Chicken Man -
Have you tried Vintage Ford? If you like I can get you some contacts for vintage FoMoCo stuff. My Father and I have experience restoring. Mostly 1960's Shelbys', Cobras' and the occasional fastback. Lemme know if there is anything I can help with. I'm in Gilbert, Arizona.

Punk Genius, thanks for the offer. I have a couple people up here I know that restore, so I think I'm set. If not, though, I'll be contacting you. I think I might have to source some parts through PHX. I've forgotten, how close is Gilbert to PHX? I'm trying a local junkyard that has the same year truck first, seeing about fenders and a few other items. My only other concern is the manual steering gear box. Do you know where I could find one or get a rebuild kit for it? I'm going to ask the other restorer I know up here on Monday, and I think he has catalogs to get all that stuff, but just thought I'd check.

Rory:

I talked to my buddy and he wants to see your 62 the next time you come up. Let me know. I'll try to post pics of the Ford soon. Just spent 2 hours in Autozone bullshitting with my old work buddies and checking prices on parts. Found out a lot.

Cool as shit: My Ford has a 3300 pound Dana Spicer axle in it. 2.5 tons of beef!

When I get the car to the house(hopefully this weekend) I will get some pics of it.

mka: I believe Punk Genius is about 3 or 4 blocks from me, Gilbert is in the east valley. Are you still going to the dyno day, or is the truck going to keep you up north?

You got it. Trying to scrape enough together for the brake work, which isn't that much, but it's going to be occupying my money from now on. Plus, I'm driving down to PHx the next two weekends in a row to fly to Cali for my grammas b-day, and back home for a wedding.

Which house are you talking about? You gonna be up here? I'm going to spend tomorrow at the vintage auto recycling out of Leupp Rd, across from Flag Auto Recycling.

Oh yeah, did some research for parts tonight. My rearend is a Dana Spicer 3300 lb axle. Beefy as ####. Better than a Dana 60. The whole rear of the truck is a 2.5 ton. The truck is supposedly a 1/2 ton, though.

Chicken Man,

I will try and find some info for you today on the rebuild kit. Good luck with the Junkyard hunting.

Hey, thanks man. I appreciate it. I ordered a catalog over the phone last night from that LMC truck too. I figure that'll help.

Well, I replaced the brake master cylinder today. Brakes will work if pumped. Got a leaky wheel cylinder(s) though. Flat spot in idle, possibly due to crappy exhaust manifold leaking air, crappy condition of carb, etc. Slowly but surely it will be better.
