FPR on S13 SR, Need help.
I have a basically stock S13 SR that i am cleaning up and getting ready to run, i want to replace my stock FPR but do not know exactly what my options are.
My plan is to purchase a good quality FPR and set it to the stock Fuel pressure. The reason i want to replace it is because i have a Walbro fuel pump and i know that it over-powers the stock FPR a bit. So my question is what is the technical info on the stock FPR? Is it a 1:1 ratio? Or is it a rising rate FPR? I believe it is a 1:1 but i just want to be sure. I would really like to go with a SARD FPR, but i cannot find technical info on it which makes me nervous. I need to know for a fact that their FPR is a direct bolt on replacement for the SR. What is your experience with whichever FPR you have? Here is a picture of my build in progress. Just for fun. ![]() |

The Intake is an Apexi suction kit. I also used the Apexi MAF adapter and i have a custom coupler that goes from the Suction pipe to the MAF. This engine is not running yet and i am going to be getting a catch can. That plug i have there is just so nothing gets in there while the engine is sitting.
I am getting an aftermarket fpr no matter what, i just need to know for sure that it will be a direct replacement. |

I am also considering the new Tomei FPR. I can not find any info as to whether it is a 1:1 Ratio or if its Rising rate. Please take a look at this info.

Can you answer one question so we can help... why are you dead set on getting a new fpr? The stock one works fine and lots of people use them at lots of different power levels. Clocking the OEM one to face downward is the best solution, and it looks like you have already done that. Lots of people use sard and tomei, they work just like your stock one. You need a fuel rail adapter and the FPR then decide on what type of hoses you want to use.
I will be honest it's overkill to change out your stock one, once you get to a high power car then it can be a nice upgrade, but still probably not needed. |

I have a tomei FPR. I have the type-s version. It looks pretty much the same thing as a sard. I have a feeling its the same thing but just rebranded.
And yes it is a rising rate and my tomei fpr works great with no problems.

I want an aftermarket fpr because the stock one is old and worn out and cannot handle the pressure my fuel pump puts out causing the engine to run rich. A good aftermarket fpr will be able to take the added pressure. Thanks |

Aeromotive & fuelab were my 2 choices, i went with the fuelab because of the available colors. They are pretty common and reccomended in the dsm community. I didnt like the tomei because of the 1/8 npt ports.

Its not running lean im saying that i want to replace my stock fpr because its worn out and old plus the combo of it and a brand new walbro 255 makes it run rich. Since that pump is strong its overpowering the stock old fpr which is why i want to get a new good quality fpr to replace the stocker.
I just need good hard evidence that there is a SARD/Tomei FPR that is a direct replacement (not mounted to the fuel rail of course) for the stock unit. I want to buy the fuel rail adapter run fuel lines and set the FPR to the same pressure as stock and have it run no different than it would with the stock one at the correct fuel pressure. Capisce? |

If you decide to run an external reg the aeromotive I run is great.Couple fittings and hose and you are off.The aeromotive pump is nice and easy to use also. You can run a guage right on the reg.Plus you can mount it away from the engine, mine is on the passenger shock tower.Good luck with your project.

Thanks steve, in a perfect world i would be able to buy a Rising Rate 1:1 SARD FPR. However their dosn't seem to be good hard evidence on any of their part numbers being a Rising Rate 1:1.

What steve said is church in this situation... No point in changing it out if the shit isn't broken.
And the walbro pump only affects the FPR on a KA24de not an sr20 which actually can regulate the extra flow properly. |

Yeah but pretend as if i need to buy a brand new FPR (which is basically the case) I need to get a new one and either buy a good aftermarket one or buy a brand new oem one (If possible)

I would buy the SARD no problem, except for i keep seeing this around.
SARD fuel pressure regulators are designed to provide the correct fuel pressure for any high performance fuel injected vehicle. The normal model is designed to be used on fuel injected, non-turbo-charged engines, and it is machined from billet aluminum. |
