Automatic Shifting Problems

Hey guys, I have a shifting problem on my automatic 240. The problem is when I start driveing, it shifts all the way up through its gears, but when I slow down and the car downshifts, it wont upshift anymore. Anyone know what the problem may be and how I can fix it?

I took it to the shop and they told me it was the computer. I replaced the computer and it still does this. Any advice?

So what you are saying is that it shifts up through the gears ONCE, and thats it?

Check your transmission fluid, it could be low and causing the transmission to malfunction. If thats the case, I'de start scavenging for parts for a 5 speed swap buddy..!

Wow, congrats.. this is a great thing, no?

ok, ill try to explain this better. When I first turn on my car and put it in drive and start going, the car upshifts the faster I go as usual. When I come to slow down for a stop sign, The car automatically down shifts as usual.

The porblem is, after I slow down or stop and I want to go, the car WONT upshift any more. Im stuck in first gear when I stop or what ever gear it last down shifted to when I slow down.

sorry if I cant explain this better.

Im completely out of ideas what to do.

Not shure how many miles on the trans, and the car is a 92.

Oh yeah and my 90 integra use to have a simular problem. When I would first start the car and put it in drive, It would upshift only to 2 gear. After a while like 5 mins of driveing in 2 gear, it would finally upshift through all its gears and the car would be fine. It only did that when the car wasent driven for a while like a day or longer.

Any clue to the problem?

I was having a similar prob where sometimes it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear (89 auto). It would just rev and slowly move forward.

I checked the tranny fluid, full and pink. Took it to my mechanic he said that the syncro (?) was going out.

He put in some transmission conditioner in and it's been working fine ever since.

I didn't want to replace the tranny if i didn't have to as I want to do the 5 spd swap.
