tein pillow tension rods vs kazama tc rods

are teins as beefy as the kazama units? ive seen pictures but i have the kazamas in my hand.. the kazamas look beefier than they do in the pictures online so are the teins actually beefy as well in real life than in pictures? anyone compare them? are tein pillow tension/compression rods even as good as the other ones out on the market (cusco, battle version, kazama, etc. etc.?)

well... i have installed both the kazama and tein's and the kazama was lighter and stronger
the tein's were quite a bit heavier...

I think it comes down to brand loyalty or what's you favorite color. It only has one function to hold you control arm in place. All of them are stronger than stock. Get a Nismo power brace if you are that conserned about keeping it in place.

i have the splparts.com ones
replacing my old tein ones (1.5+ years old)
they are nicer then the tein but they serve the same purpose, im more curious on overall adjustability. not sure (never tested) where the tein maxes out at..most i ran was 8 degrees caster
im going to run 9 w/ the SPlparts.com one

should work out fine.

Will the lower control arm bushing start to bind when upwards of 8 degrees caster are dialed in?
...anything in the works to reduce SAI?

well i do have adjustable front lower control arms shortly
these:

you know alot more about that stuff then me, wont that fix any problems?

also have adjustable tie rod end links too (fyi)

also what does SAI mean?

i should order the FLCA next month or following. i just ordered my rear toe link (for s14) and forward rear link (for s14) today..so sorta strapped. fortunately being sonsored helps A LOT on costs so its not totally painful, but still leaves a nice dent. good stuff. splparts.com rocks!

Anoter good thing about the SPLparts TC rods is that they give you a one year warranty on the bushing.

Also, you can't go wrong with the bling of polished aluminum.

Aaron, you are a bastard. I would kill to get the rest of SPL's stuff but can't afford it right now. I'd kill to get my F'ing helmet that got jacked as well.

Ahyes. Rod-ends will definitely eliminate bind from increasing caster far beyond the stock specs.

SAI is 'steering axis inclination' (also called KPI, kingpin inclination). The axis is from the lower control arm ball-joint to the upper strut mount bearing.. basically, the 'caster' angle viewed from the front/rear of the car; how much the strut is tilted towards the engine. On our mcpherson strut cars, camber adjusted with camber plates is directly related to SAI; more camber on the plate will increase the SAI.

SAI and caster are directly related. Caster promotes the correct cambering of the wheel when its turned, while SAI reduces the effects of caster.
Just search around google for 'kingpin inclination' or 'steering axis inclination'

On an aside.. would you consider relocating the control arm mounting point to above the stock mounting point? (yep, drilling holes in the frame basically). The rod-end has a much smaller foot-print than the stock control arm so it could move up maybe as much as 1". Doing so would be the ultimate way in reducing the center of gravity, and better retaining suspension stroke while keeping the geometry decent.

I really hope the car gets aligned by a race car prep shop before its taken seriously; there is only so much that can be done with DIY alignments in a reasonable amount of time; checking bump steer, scrub radius, ackerman, caster, SAI, corner weights.. pain in the ass. And sure, once the car is initially setup, small changes are practical and expected.
