s13 Noisy suspension when cold..

I have a 91 FB and when I go somewhere in the cold weather,my suspension is extremely noisy whenever i hit bumps and it stops once I've driven a while or the suspension is "warm"....my dad says that I just need to have my grease fittings all greased up,but I don't know

I have a '97 240 and my front end makes some sounds when cold out. A friend's dad (muscle car braniac) says it's what happens when your struts have 80k miles on them.

I think I get the same noise you're talking about but I have changed my struts and springs. When I replaced them I did notice they were sitting kinda funny though so that might be the problem with me.

mine makes noises also. I think its just b/c it is so damn cold, they are fine once they get "warmed up". Kinda sounds like a clunkish kinda sound going over a quick dip (although those noises might just be the chuncks of ice hitting the ground also, for me) but my stock supsension (what i ride on for winter) makes all kinds of noises since its cold out. Oh well.

Yeah...first time it did it I thought I had smacked the front bumper up...I was like "OH SHIT" ...I was at 7-11,and kinda showing off...anyway....I am going to have a shop go over my suspension to make sure she's all fine...

my shocks had a weird noise too; louder when cold. turned out the dust covers around the struts had disintegrated into rings and were getting stuck in the strut. so everytime they moved it would grind the rubber against the metal. still driving on those lol. too cold to change shocks rite now. should easily last till late feb.

Sun, Sun, Sun, high's in the 80's alll week!
Lucky, it's 13 degrees F here right now, feels like 3 with the windshield

my '93 fastback is making all kinds of funky suspension noises in this snowy, cold weather. My dust covers around the struts are all messed up too, and I think all the snow/slush I'm shooting up around the rear tires is f00king something up, it makes weird clunking noises when I start the car or take a tight turn, even when I pull in/out of driveway. I need to check it out when I can go to my uncle's and have a nice, warm garage to work in! This cold weather sucks!

California? Haha no thanks. I'd rather stay where I am and be able to ride around with a turbo and FMIC and not worry about a thing.

You dont have to worry about a thing. i bet there are 10 times more turbocharged and intercooled s13's here.

check wheel bearings, lots of 240sx's have issues with bad bearings in certain areas. Bushings may be your problem for excisive noise. Also check your half-shalfs boots if they are a little inflated..if they look deflated..that means your CV joints need grease and that could be causing noise too. Check your calipers if they are sticking, sometimes they cause noise too. Have fun trouble shooting to those who have noise problems

My '97 Prelude with full Mugen coilover suspension creaked when it got around or below freezing but always would sound perfectly normal after spring and summer came back around... and I'm quite sure there was nothing wrong with that suspension.

The colder it is the less things want to move. Simple as that.

any liquid that experiences cold temp. want to become thicker, So if the grease or lubes that surround some of your gears or bearings gets cold..its gona be rather hard for those parts to move until they heat up.
