370z brakes on s14?
Anybody here knows if they'll work on a s14?
Some dude I know just smashed his adn I'm tryign to score his wheels and brakes but I'm not sure if they'll fit. But I figured it'll be a good bargaining chip for some 300z brakes somewhere down the line! |

a DIRECT BOLT ON, but you need to drill you mounting holes on the knuckle from 12mm to 14 mm,
you can use 300zx brakes > 240 sx lines or the stock 3z0 lines will DIRECT BOLT ON to your hard line. all this is 4 the fronts, the rear idunno but i'd run some zxtt brakes for the sake of e-brakes. and NO repet NOOOOO don't trade them for crapy z brakes. you can score some nice $$$$ if you sell'em to a guy with 370z base who need to upgrade his brakes.

No, 370Z, aka Z34s front brake caliper mounting ears are wider. That's why there are even mounting brackets for fitting 370Z brakes on 350Z.
See this link for some info: Akebono Nissan 300ZX F&R 14 Inch Big Brake Kit w/ Stoptech Rotors, SS Lines, and Motul Fluid - Nissan performance parts and they are only worthwhile if they are the "Sport" brakes. |

wait so is "akebono" code name for 370z brakes?
edit: okay that was dumb. I'll admit. So akebono is who makes the brakes. Got it. Looking online it seems these brakes are available for both the g37 and the 370z? 14" rotor! damn, so I'm doomed to a life of 18" rims up front? no big deal. So I went on the z1 site and found this: http://www.z1motorsports.com/240sx/p...bcf86f30afe067 I ain't down to pay $2Gs to fit these but it looks like I can mount the rear and use the z32 brake cables to run ebrake? can someone confirm? |

Yes, the 370Z sports brakes are made by Akebono. However, Akebono is a brake manufacturer, so they could also be a supplier for the base brakes, so don't go by the name it self.

they fit, tried them on my 1998 s14, u have to drill to 14mm from 12mm, also they are huge brakes finding wheels is tough that will clear

I'm currently running 350z anniversary wheels which are 18", so if this goes well I should also score those 370z 19" wheels and the sports brakes on that car. Time to hit up the church and pray that I can convince my boy to give that shit up to me. |

Again if you have z33/g35 brakes brembo or standard calipers it will line up and fit as long as you enlarge the knuckle holes to accept the bigger bolts for the calipers.
The rear z33/g35 brembo and standard calipers do not fit. You can source sti rear brembo calipers for that mating it along w/ a z32 rear drum assembly and z32 rear rotor. The rear brembos from the Skyline GTR Vspecs will also bolt on if you have the z32 rear brake conversion done. Not too sure about what rear rotor needs to be used but the caliper will bolt up. As for the G37S/370z Akebono caliper setup, its super BIG. You will deff need 18" rims with BIG brake clearance or 19s. The front Akebono calipers dwarf the 350z/G35 front brembo calipers. Last time I saw a picture, the rear Akebono from 370z/G37 are as large as the front brembo calipers off the 350z/G35. The rear would be a cool upgrade if you could source the rear caliper bracket adapters to enable you to use a larger rear rotor/caliper setup if you currently run a z32 rear brake setup |

![]() Saying you'd rather go with z32 brakes is enough of a comment not to listen to. I guarantee he's right its the 350z brakes that you have to drill out the knuckles so they fit, with the akebono's brake setup it requires a bracket on the 350z, so there is no way its going to just "bolt on" to an s-chassis. RESEARCH its all over my350z.com good luck with these guys that say its a direct bolt on. |

yeah I already caught pictures of the brackets. Won't bolt on to a 240sx, thats for sure. too much work.
oh well, Looks like I'll have a good bargaining chip if I can get my hands on these. |

As said above, they aren't going to fit the stock setup. I have a friend who tried fitting these on his Z33 and ran into all of the issues listed above. IIRC they did clear his 18" TE37's, but those wheels are known to fit larger brakes without issue across all sizes.

...I tracked my Z setup for 4 years on Carboteceh AX6/Panther + and on XP12's...let me assure you they work as good as anything else given the tire compound. My only gripe is that they the track days weren't so friendly on the rotors (not in regard to eating them, but heat cracking them).

The trick is to buy the caliper adapter bracket. Looks like Concept Z has Z32/S14/S13 fitment brackets.
The only problem is if they are willing to just sell you the brackets. Personally, I could use a set of the rear caliper brackets to fit my Z33 Brembo set, even though I had picked up a set of rear BNR34 Brembo calipers... So, if you can get them for free, do it. The front brackets are available for ~$300 for a set if you search around. Haven't seen any one offer to sell the rear bracket adapter independently though... |

I realize this is an old thread but I feel the topic is still relevant. Anyways why not just use a sleeve in the 350z calipers to make them 12mm so you dont have to modify your knuckles. As long as you use a high grade bolt I dont see a problem.

Personally, I'd like to know the piston areas on all these different OE calipers.

If these brackets work on a zx I would think they would work on an s chassis as well maybe I'm wrong.. 400+ for brackets is expensive tho

I know from a few friends that these warp easily and dont have the greatest - fullest contact area so most if not all get a rust ring... Akebono's are pretty tho!

So Z32 and Z33 (ears) both fit the OE S-chassis mounting point... the Z33 will only need a 5mm spacer to properly center the caliper. You can only space this in one direction (inward). Z1 and a few other places make Brakets and even sell the entire set-up for a descent price (compared to true BBK).
So, basically these Will fit... with a bracket (+5mm)!!! I would suggest asking Z1 to add the 5mm to the milling process, and add it as an option to expand their product range. |
