How to get out of a speeding ticket

Hey guys today i was going to school driving my normal 60 when i got stuck behind someone doing like 58 in the fast lane(i was going around someone slow int e normal lane) and i needed to get over because my exit was coming up so i thought i could make it, well the person in front of me passed the slow car and got over, so i decided to drop it to 3rd and get in fron of them, right as i do a cop coming the opposite direction comes over the hill and hits his lights. "I got you at 80 " he said well i already have a ticket waiting for court a 78 in a 55, thats why i drive the speed limit 99.9% of the time. But anyway i was wondering what i could do to trick the calibration into making my car look a good 10-15 mph off. I plan to put bigger tires on, but wat else can i do? A friend of mine told me if i pull a speed sensor out of a "larger" nissan and put it in it will help me out. Will this work and if so what should i take one out of? will an sr speed sensor change anything? Thanks alot all suggestions are appreciated.

ignorance of the law is no excuse...the fact that you thought you were going a different speed because your car is faulty does not change the fact that you were speeding...

99% sure it wont work as a defense...

Ask that the officer appear in court, in most states I think they have to get a certificate proving they know how to operate a radar gun correctly. Ask to see that certificate in court. A

When I contested a ticket I got last year the officer couldn't make the court date so I got off on a technicality.

For the record, I was NOT speeding and COULD prove it. The technicality was ultimately the reason the ticket was dismissed but, I would have beat it anyway.

Basically you have a problem with only one REAL solution.

Move out of state.

Anything else anyone tells you might not work. My solution will. (Just don't go back either)

You can contest it if you want, but your chances are somewhat slim.

Where you speeding? Did you get busted? Then I would personally say take your medicine. Just my .02 I have spent thousands literally on tickets. I did it, I got busted, I payed the price. AND HELL YEAH IT SUX!! Your best bet is if the Officer dont show up but be warned if an officer dont show up on a court date here the officer is fined. So here that very rarely happens. Keep in mind you are dealing with the judicial system to so even if you do prove you werent if they want you to pay it your still going to pay it.

i was pulled once for going way over the limit, i forgot what he clocked me at to be honest... the best way to get out of a ticket is to be honest and nice with the cop. as soon as i saw the blue lights i rolled my window and waved my hand out to let him know that i saw him and pulled over. have your interior light on and keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times... when he ask why you were speeding, be honest. when he asked why i was speeding i said ignorance i guess... he paused for a moment and said that it wasn't a wise thing to do, he then gave me a warning and let me go.... i doubt this will work with any cop, but look at it this way, when you get pulled what are you going to do? outrun him??? no, just pull over and be an adult about it... and ALWAYS throw the ball in their court, they like that a lot, lol. this isnt much help now im sure, but for future refrence i guess.... best of luck to you man.

moving out of state won't help, states transfer driver info.
If you really think you can beat it, go to court. He has to have a valid radar certificate, make sure he does (most do, so don't count on it). There is a very real chance he won't shop up in court. In most places the police is understaffed and they don't have time to pay officers to sit in court. Since most people just pay their tickets, a lot of times the officer can't make it to court.
Read your state statues... my dad got off once cause he took it to court, the speed limit sign didn't say "radar enforced" and the cop used a radar, so the ticket was invalid.
If nothing else, if the cop shows up, just go up to your magistrate before the trial and tell him you will pay the fine if they dismiss the charges. a lot of times all they want is your money and instead of "risking" a trial they will drop the points on your license in exchange for your check.

oh, and just so you know, as far as an affirmative defense, having a car that is not calibrating correctly is no defense, though they make take it into consideration. If you can call the officer before the trial and explain that to him, he may be able to get the ticket dismissed... good luck with that.

yeah, im taking responsibility for what i did, 85 in a 45. the "faulty speedo" thing can only help you if like you were doing between 11 and 15 over, you can have it taken down to 6-10 or something, i read all the codes on that shit, but it was a few weeks ago.

my cop didnt show up, well "he was injured" so it got postponed. 3 days later i see him sitting in a starbucks, talking to a college girl. injured.... yeah.....

well see how court goes, march 15th.

Yea, I say go to court, if anything they will lower the price of the ticket, in personal experiance, court doesnt help, i have 2 court dates this month, both are bogus, but I think I can only get out of one.. I also need advice.

A quick break down

Ticket #1 Was driving home when my speedo Broke, I match speeds with traffic, I get pulled over and get a ticket. Then I go to the DMV to pay it and they say it hasent show up yet, I wait somwhere near 4 months and they still dont have it. Then I get a notice in the mail saying it "Missed my court date". So their is ticket #1, of course sence then I have switched out my Cluster, and I have the old one.

Then for Ticket #2

This ticket wasent in my 240, it was in my 4 door 92 sentra (its a beater, for winter) and I was merging and the lane was ending, I got over with about a car leight in front and back of me. Then I see a cop to the back right of my, I do what everyone does and hit the breaks just a bit. And then ofcourse.. he pulls me over. The conditions were fine and he claimed they were bad, when refering to the conditions, he pointed to the snowy ditch. All would have been good, untill he saw me record then he came back and gave me a ticket for "Unsafe change of course". This is the one I think I can beat, my friends were in another car behind me and they said this cop was on everyones ass trying to pull somone over.

What do I in my situation do.

Note: If i get 1 more ticket I lose my driving privalges for 3 months..

how'd you geuss ? Yeah.....tickets blow,I got one for 54 in a 35 not long ago....but I was nice to the cop....it was an area that goes from 55-35 in a block, and I was a block AFTER it goes to 35,and was racing a guy at 60mph,the cop was on his side,so he slammed the brakes, and there I was ....I got 19 over, and the cop said it was at the intersection where it goes to 35...not a block and ahalf later....when I got to court,I was wearing a suit BTW,the cop was like "he was very respectful, and realized he did wrong".....and hey! it got dismissed....when it gets dismissed in VA your insurance doesn't go up

EDIT:I live in chesterfield, but the nickname for it is "arrest-a-feild" ..

Tickets suck

I got my one for 13 over, been driving slow ever since. Well, cept every once in a while and then I'm lucky there haven't been any cops just like what happened to DMC. I wouldn't speed if people didn't drive so stupid hehe

BTW, my first ticket was dropped in exchange for attending a drivers school. Ended up costing the same but no insurance increase after that and no points.

heres a good way to not get a ticket,
when the cop asks you why you were speeding, say you gotta go take a greasy dump, and you REALLY dont wanna poop ur pants, anybody that doesnt have sympathy for somebody that has to go poo RIGHT AWAY, is a sad sad person.

Don't try that one if you just flew past an exit or rest stop.
