State reff ticket with a stock KA? The fuhhhh?

I was pulled over today for my exhaust. (Straight pipe) The cop takes all my paperwork and license then comes back and slaps me with a state reff without ever having looked at my car. (91 240 with the stock KADE)

Uhhhh. They can't do that right? They have to have probable cause or something?

I asked him why and he told me "I know there's something modified under there so you don't even have to bother".

I told him Everything was stock. Even the air box was still there.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Tomorrow i'm gonna go to the state reff office and see what the hell I need to do.

I wanna try and get a stock exhaust before hand too so I can go and make the cop look even more like an idiot.

:]

Straight pipe was put on by the previous owner. He said it was his rb25 track car but put the ka back in and traded for my civic. Idk why he would want a civic for a track car but what evs. Y u even mad tho? It was in Glendora

Welcome to California. If the motor is stock, put the stock exhaust on it. The KA24 sounds like shit with any exhaust on it and is especially loud. Look up the vc code on the dmv.ca.gov site and go see the ref, if they check out your car and it can pass smog just fine you will get a door sticker and the cop can go suck it.
