Repainted my engine bay with real paint and cleaned a bunch of stuff up over the last few months. I did a few things here and there to make it a little nicer.
![]() I'm happy with how it came out, considering I didn't really modify any factory wiring. I don't really want to go too far down that rabbit hole. |

There's a nice amount of room between the back of the head and the firewall with a CA18, so I just cut, bent and flared some new steel lines and routed them back there, up against the firewall. Once it's running 100% I'm going to check the temperature in that area with an infrared thermometer, then decide if insulation is necessary.
I probably should have insulated the lines when the engine was out, but I was on a bit of a time crunch when I did the lines so I'll have to deal with it later. Autozone carries the 3/16" steel line and M10 fittings. I had to go to a couple Autozones to find enough fittings but I got 'em. This was my first time doing these double flares---no leaks yet, but we'll see after it gets driven for an extended amount of time. I flipped the brake booster upside down too, a Honda/VW trick. So the booster line runs behind the head too. I'm definitely going to add another heat shield near the exhaust manifold. |
