brake pad help

i'm currently in the market for new brake pads and a local shop suggested that i go with endless cc-x, i was wondering how these pads hold up, or how long can i expect to run them? how do these pads stack up to others.. such as project mu titan-kai? the car is mostly a daily driver, with a few auto-x days, and fast canyon drives on occasion. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fuck japanese pads. Way overpriced. Plenty of domestic brands that work just as well. Look into Porterfield Racing or Hawk.

KVR is working pretty good for me too! Yes, jdm pads are pricey. The shop probably wants more money out of your pockets

actually the guy who recommended them runs them on his itr, which he has auto-x'd at every event he could for the past 2 seasons. he's had absolutely no complaints and has had them for over 3 years w/o hitting wear indicators.

how would the hawk hp plus compare to either the project mu titan kai or the endless cc-x? would the hawk hp plus have similar wear characteristics and stopping power as the endless cc-x?

Yeah, KVR is working for me as well, although some warmup time is needed inorder for them to grab.

He's had the same brake pads for 3 years WITH 2 seasons of auto-x?? something doesn't quite add up..

I rather liked my KVR's. Porterfields work, but their casting is way too sloppy. I had to file the ridges off before I could install them, which is stoopid. Never tried Hawk. The JDM brands might be slightly better, but definately not enough to justify the price.

He doesn't use his brakes much then or he's BS'ing you to sell you an overpriced product. Endless are nice, but cost 4x what they are worth, but that's the price to be "JDM cool".

Porterfield, Hawk, or KVR are as good or better for 1/3rd the price.

Hawk tend to wear out rotors faster due to the high amount of metal in the pads and they do make a fair amount of noise. KVR don't stop as good, but they will last longer and be quieter than the Hawk.

The R4S pads are the best I've ever used for the street compared to Hawk, KVR, and EBC Greens. it occurs to me that the only people qualified to tell me if endless pads are worth the money or not are people who have used endless pads. no one so far has given me a comparison, its always "their overpriced use this brand" ... thats nice and all, but i didnt ask if they were overpriced, i asked how they would hold up compared to other brands.

none of you know my friend at the shop and thus are in NO position to tell me that he's lying to me, ive known him for over 5 years. i know that he's used endless pads for the last 3 years. he's also going to be using endless pads on his s13. so what you're going to tell me that the pads arent worth the price even though none of you have used them? and the few people i know that HAVE them swear by them and will never use another brake pad? did any of you ever think that maybe they just might be worth the extra $? or is everyone so worried about being called a a jdm whore for using, from what i've seen, a superior product?

Sounds like you've got it all figured out then. Better go buy a set right away.

THANKS! once again totally irrelavent information. the point of the previous response was to show that people who are calling my friend a liar and havent had any experience with endless pads but think they know enough about them to respond with their opinion on how they will perform. fact of the matter is my friend HAS used these pads the last 3 years, and none of you guys HAVE used endless pads period. i fail to see how you can make an educated responce to the performance of a pad you havent used.

thank you, thats all i needed. the only point i was trying to make is people were trying to give me advice on educated guesses rather then actual experience on how the pads would perform.

and just to make this clear, the shop also told me about hawk, performance friction, axxis, ebc, and project mu. but said that if i planned to keep the car for a while that the endless pads would be the best bet as i wouldnt need to replace brake pads as often as i would with the other pads. they were unclear on how long they would last and thats why i posted my initial question.

I think it would be in your best interest's to seek out other people's opinions in addition to your friend's experience. Regardless of how the Endless pads perform, I know that many, many people would disagree that Endless pads are worth the price premium over quality pads that are produced and sold in the United States.

Some of us have raced/competed in AutoX or on actual tracks and some of us have used actual race pads. Anyone who has, knows that any *good* race pad will not last for 3 years of street driving and 2 full seasons of AutoX. A good street pad might, but not a good race pad.

I never said Endless was bad, but their cost is extremely high and the pad your friend uses is obviously a good street compound. I'm sure they are excellent, but for the cost of those Endless pads I can almost buy 3 sets of other pads.

I don't care about being "JDM" I drive a friggin silvia conversion for crying out loud

i still think you fail to see the point, i asked for help with wear rates, not your personal opinion on whether or not the pads are overpriced. price wasnt really the issue here, i was simply trying to figure out if other pads would wear simlarly to the endless. thanks for your help, i was actually leaning towards the hawk hp plus or blues as the endless cc-x's seem to be really a lot more brake pad then i really need. thanks for all the help anyway!

I never offered my opinion on pads. I have used Hawk HP+s competitively and I do have a strong opinion on those.

how do you like the hp+'s? ive heard they can warp rotors under hard breaking. have you had any problems with them?

I think that whatever else that person who told you that hawk brake pads...or any other pad can warp a rotor under hard braking should be taken with a grain of salt.

I love my KVRs. Yeah, the make a small bit of noise and they suck when cold, but they don't like stock and brake dust isn't too bad.
