Before you mangle the oil filter any more, try using the plier-type oil filter wrench to remove it.

And next time, tell the guy who's doing the oil change to not overtighten the oil filter.

Have you tried the strap wrench with the rubber grip inside? Its $10 from Pep Boys and the grip portion of the wrench has a "SUPERIOR ATTACK!"

What about spraying some PB Blast all around the filter's mounting. Let it sit, and then try the strap again...

fuck that old oil filter. you're not using it again. This happens to me all the time. The angle is wierd so no filter wrenches can get a good enough grip on it. SO.. Grab the biggest channel locks you can find, squeeze the fuck out of the filter and twist it loose. Like i said, you're not reusing it; so who cares if it's mangled.

When you put the new one on put a little oil on the gasket and only hand tighten. Also, make sure all of the old gasket comes off. I think the screwdriver should have worked. Are you by any chance are you weak?lol

did you use a filter wrench that uses a ratchet/filter socket to take the filter off??
those work like a charm if the filter isn't rounded off.

yikes

who tightend it? Thats ridiculous.

hand snug/firm (not GRIP IT AND RIP IT) and then another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Thats all, really. Oh, and put a little bit of oil around the seal of the filter (I usually just dab my finger in the old stuff I just drained and run it around the seal.)

Try one of those cup style oil filter removal things. You can stick a ratchet or a long handled bar. Get some good leverage.

oh, hey, you SURE you are turning it in the proper direction, correct? Righty-tighty / Lefty-loosey and all that.

Right hand rule. Stick your thumb in the direction you want the filter to go (out/down) and curl your remaining 4 fingers up. The direction your fingers are pointing (in that around motion) is the direction you should be turning the filter.

Good luck.

try getting at it from underneath, and if you use any kind of penetrating lube, you have to tap all around where you sprayed with a metal hammer to get it to soak in. thats how PENETRATING lube works, by tapping. also might be the gasket all corroded and stuck, try slipping a razorblade inbetween it, cut it all up, and then try to remove it. but you might have bent the internals of the filter when you crammed that screwdriver through it so you coulda made the job more difficult. good luck!

finally got the SOB out! Went bought huge ass channel lock then squeezed the hell out of it, first removed all the oil lines in the way...it didnt grip for awhile but after like four or five turns it started moving a little bit, then i took a torch and melted some of it... the stickers lit on fire haha...dumped some baking soda on it and put the fire out. That melt the rubber seal and then i went back to the channel lock and ripped it out...woo thank god... thanks for all the help guys!!!
