s14 sr20det cranks but wont start
Alright guys i really need your help. got a s14 sr with fresh rebuild dropped it in with wiring specialties plug and play harness upper and lower. k primed the motor and then come to start it and it started for a split second and then died. after that all it does is crank over but wont start.
sooo 1) fuel pump primes just fine (walbro 255 new z32 filter) checked lines and have pressure in and out. fuel circulates all around. 2) there is spark 3) timing is dead on perfectly timed and CAS is set right as well. 4) all grounds are connected 5) when we pulled the spark plugs they were NOT drenshed with fuel they were rather dry just a hint of fuel on them.. what could it be ?? Bad ecu ? bad Injectors ? bad grounds? why would it start for a sec and then die. BTW the motor came with denso red cap injectors ( 550's maybe?) please i need your help i need to get the car inspected by the end of the month. thanks in advance |

Bump starting wont work if it already cranks on its own. Try your cas (cam angel sensor) its inside the dizzy and can cuas the problems your having. Idea put money on that being it. Easiest way to check it is to get your buddy to drive his sr swapped wip over and throw his dizzy on leave it a litle lose and tr y to start it if it works get a new dizzy or save some money and spend some time swapping out the sensor . Let me know if that works

The CAS is fine and is in time perfectly, if it was bad it wouldnt give spark to the coil packs. but it seems that the problem is the injectors arent firing because if it was dumping fuel the spark plugs would be flooded from cranking it but they were completly dry, soo im stumped gonna check the voltage and noid light on the injectors and see if even the ecu is working proparly..
thanks again for ur inputs guys. any more ideas would be great |

We have tried 2 different ecu's, timing is spot on, we have spark, fuel is going into the cylinders.
The lead I am currently on is the injectors that came with and are in the motor it appear to be Denso/Sard 550cc injectors. The top matches the Denso/Sard 550cc injectors that I have. The ecu does not appear to be modified at all. A friend of mine, and myself are feeling that we are getting way to much fuel for it to even try and fire up. I am going to swap in a set of 370cc oem injectors and see where we stand from there. To recap we have fuel(maybe to much) we have spark, and timing is set to the FSM set up exactly. |

![]() My Sard/Denso 550CC injector ![]() the injector currently in the car. looks just the same on what you can see. Notice the coller between the cap and the fuel rail. ![]() projectblak's ECU from what i can tell it is untouched and i was the first to open it. |

well seems the injectors were the issue. we put some #70cc in and let the cylinders dry out and started it with no fuel going it. it fired right up and burnt off most of the fuel. unfortunately the 4 of the 20 some thing injectors i have there is a problem with leaking too much fuel in. so I Built a fuel injector bench tester to find out which ones are my bad ones as far as leaking or clogs ect. Turned out pretty good. I will take pictures after i get some rest.

Yeah it gave us hell man and after changing out injectors the fucker was still flooding turned out a bad maf changed that out and it's purring like a kitten now. SHE IS ALIVE!!! Good thing u found it I had a wiring specialties harness so there was no room for error on that part

I would check the throttle position sensor I read up on it before it might be it. And try swapping ur coolent temp sensor ecu one not gauge it my be bogging the system cause its not reading right it like 11 buvks and uAlso check ur maf again it could be fooling u swap it for a known good working one. I would never go standalone waste of money in my opinion unless u going 1000 horses. I would get a nistune it gives u real time tuning and u can fine tune it to perfection.
In my case when my motor came in it had 550 injectors nismo clutch and flywheel and what seemed to be a tuned oem ecu. Turns out the ecu wasn't tuned for it and was flooding the engine. And my maf was bad and sending my ecu a wrong signal to dump more fuel. So ur maf might be bad and starving the engine from wrong air fuel mixture and that's why it may be bogging at a certain rpm. Ok the plug on the o2 sensor what does it look like is it rectangular or oval or square ? With the zenki ecu which is WC like mine the o2 sensor has to be the rectangular one check it and see. Not the 02 sensor itself

K then u have the right one. Lol check ur throttle position sensor that's sometimes can cause the issue and also check ur ecu coolant temp sensor it's a 2 wire plug
