2015 nsx
I personally love the early 90's NSX. This new one seems to be a good tribute to it.
Thoughts? the rebirth of the Honda NSX: one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1990s will return in 2015 as an American-built Acura with all-wheel-drive and an electric-enhanced rear engine. Here's a hybrid to get excited for. The NSX represented the pinnacle of Honda's sports heyday of the 1980s and '90s. Launched with input from Formula One great Ayrton Senna, the NSX set a brace of technological firsts -- from its aluminum monocoque frame to the variable valve timing that would become a standard on engines worldwide. The NSX wasn't the fastest or most-powerful supercar, but reflected Honda's balance between power, weight and handling -- a sweet spot that few cars have ever achieved. Honda mulled replacing the NSX for years with a V-10 powered successor, but the company soon embraced smaller engines and a tight focus on fuel efficiency. Somewhere along the way, it also lost a piece of the racing spirit that birthed the NSX, unleashing a string of unsuccessful to ungainly models that offered little over their competitors. After last year's update of the Honda Civic -- a freshening that did little to improve the car's weakening position against tough competition -- Honda's executives vowed to revive the company's soul. The new NSX, to be sold under the Acura brand, shows they're serious enough to design the most attractive Acura ever. ![]() ![]() The concept retains the mid-engine V-6 layout of the original NSX, but adds in a new Honda all-wheel-drive system that relies on electric motors to power the front wheels. As with its predecessor, Honda vows the NSX won't rely on brute force, but combine lightweight materials with high technology for supercar performance and respectable fuel economy. If there's a disappointment here, it's that Honda has held back several key details about the NSX concept, including the power its engines and electric motors will generate. But the U.S.-based team developing the NSX for production in Ohio has three years to get it right. |

SICK. I love the awd approach. Balance. Unifying the drivetrain makes for very focused driving experience. I'm sure it will be slightly underpowered like the original but new technology shoud make this one the best yet.

I'm liking it, I still see the original in it's design.
The V6 should make at least 320 plus say 50 apiece for the electrics (total guess)? 420 in total would be great especially if it's lighter then the GTR.

That thing is ugly as sin. I can't really pick out any original nsx in there. Looks like a tl front and a mutated civic. I hate where this futuristic styling is headed. The original nsx looked great, that's what it's known for. I'm sure they'll re-do it 800 times before it ever hits market but I hope end product is a little more car like and less cyborg-esque.

I don't care for the engine approach at all.
seriously, get over your reliance on small disp and engines & N/A only. who the hell buys a car like that for fuel economy? (don't recall that being an objective of the earlier nsx). not everything has a be damn hybrid. looks wise, I'm baffled as to why Honda is so stubborn about getting rid of that controversial grill. |

Not feeling it. I would tend to agree with other peoples posts. The original while being a Ferrari and Mid 4 biter, did look good. This concept does not, imo.

being styled and built in the US, kinda takes away from its exoticness. Would like to see them get rid of the coupe look and continue with the black roof/lemans style roof

yeah I think Lambo will introduce a gallardo replacement around '15. chances are it probably already has a hefty v8/10 that would make great power on it's own, with or without the electric motor. idk I'm still not convinced of the merits of something like that though. chances are it's going to be some rich dude's toy and not some daily driver, so environmental concerns are prob negligible at best. (it could happen, just not likely on a large scale) Having a FI V6 is okay I guess if it's a more affordable & lighter sports car. It wouldn't be such a bad idea if Honda re-did the s2000 with it. On a $90k+ (speculated) car where you're competing with anything from already a more balanced 911 to a brute like the Z06 & GTR, I fail to see the appeal. idk about using the electric engine to up the torque. I though apparent lack of torque was always a honda hallmark. It just seems to me this concept really lacks focus, not unlike some of Honda's other stuff like the CRZ do they want it to be enviro-friendly or do they want performance? is there a market for something like this realistically? does it have what it takes be a halo car? Can't say I'm optimistic. aside from the honda-die hards I can't see it appealing to most (and how much of them have 90k to blow?). it saddens me to say that honda is prob my least fav Japanese manufacturer today. |

I like it.
I'm also glad to see the disappearance of the ugly ass rear section the previous NSX had. And hybrids are here to stay. I don't think that's a bad move either. |

The entire design and marketing team at Honda need fired. :/
Ideally I would see a new NSX being something akin to the Audi R8 but at a much cheaper price point. And what happened to this beautiful monstrosity? ![]()
