i got a 97 less then 70k nissan 240// and i get like 250 a tank.. what could be the cause of this? could off timing cause it? what else?

foul spark plugs, bad air filter and yeah, timing could be off.

i used to get 300/tank on my 98. changed plugs/wires, distributor, coolant flush, switched back to 5w30 (was 10w30) synthetic, and pushing 400/tank now on 91 octane. the car just gulps down lower octane gas.

i think its my oild and timing then.. mostly timing.. how do i recalibrate timing what should it be set to?

just do a tune up... i'm in the middle of fixing shit on my car that was probably ignored for most of its 9 year lifespan. before i was only getting about 250 on a tank, but i just got 299.1 miles on 11.5 gallons of gas - roughtly 25mpg; driving fairly aggressively too. so far i changed the rotor & cap, mobil 5w-30, air filter, oil filter, switched to 300zx fuel filter. next is spark plugs + plug wires and o2 sensors. iirc first thing ppl recommend for bad mileage is o2 sensor. anyway 25mpg is actually about right for our cars. running 93 octane btw.

funny thing is it's reverse for me, i used to get 400 miles / tank, ~30mpg, but after installing this and that, including vlsd, it went to about 25 mpg, not sure if o2 is bad, because i just did a tune up and it's still at 25mpg...

who do i go to, to recalibrate my timing? i dont have a timing gun nor do i know how to use one hahaha..

also 300zx fuel and oil filters eh..
