Exclamation 91 240sx wont start then it does.

so i just got this car yesterday and already have problems. its a 5spd dohc, so i go to start it and it clicks without turning the key to start, it sounds like a turn signal click but no signal light on the dash, battery light and check engine light come on the radio comes on like normal the head lights still work along with every other light and buttons. i try to start it and the lights on the dash dim but nothing happins just sits there and clicks non stop. take the key out and it keeps clicking open the door, or push the lock button on the door and it stops put the key back in and if you move it or hit any buttons it starts clicking again and wont start, avg it takes me 10 min to start after takin the key out and retrying repeadedly. im not sure were to start being ive only had the car for 48hrs. any help is appreciated.

ok thats what i was thinking possibly so il check that, also can it be a relay? even though it stops and the car will run and drive just fine after fiddling with everything. i just dont get how it can happin when the car is off and the key is out of the ignition. seems like if i wiggle the key inside the ignition i can get it too stop also along with like i said, open the door, push the power lock button, put the key in and out.

Yeah, check your battery and it's terminals, make sure the cables connect tight to the battery terminals, mine did this and presto, negative was dirty and wouldn't get tight so I put a small piece of metal and tightened it and no more problems

Like the previous guys said, start with the easy stuff. My positive cable had just a small amount of corrosion and wouldn't start sometimes. I would go and wiggle my cable and then it would start up. Just because it wasn't making a good connection.

i cleaned the cables and it still does it but starts better and runs smoother, after today i think its the alarm system cause it makes the same clicking when you lock and unlcock it with the controller thing. ive figured it out to wear i can get it too start before the alarm kicks it still takes a few tries but at least i know what it is. either gonna have the stereo shop check the wiring and rewire it or take it out completely and rewire it to stock, i dont feel like doing it there alot of wires hooked up to it. also the the key wont turn sometimes and you have to jerk the wheel to get the lock to release il have to figure that out sometime too.

When there is an electrical problem, the first thing i do is check the fuses.

Dead battery, loose connections, or bad ground.

If it had an alarm check the wires where they were wired.
