After Christmas I was planning to start up on my 240sx again, I should have wheels and tires, exhaust, and my turbo kit withing a few months of the new year.
But I cant stop thinking about what it would take to get into a new 350z when it comes out in October 2002 (correct me if Im wrong but that is when they are going on the market right?).
So I got this plan that I could throw the stock stuff back into my 240sx (for trade-in value), Ive got a few grand of equity in the car so if I trade it in it would be used as down payment. I could also take the money, 3k or so, that I was planning to dump into the 240 for performance parts and use that also as downpayment.
Next, I would start looking as soon as the new model rolls out at dealerships, online, and in the car trader mags. I feel pretty confident I can find some dipshit that bought the car then decided it was too small, too expensive, not fast enough, whatever.. that will turn one back in with a couple thousand miles on it and knock a few grand off the price.
Now the tricky part. A year ago I bought my wife a 2001 Altima, Nissan was having a huge sale that weekend and there was a $2000 factory rebate on the car so we ended up with a price of around 13.9k on a fully loaded special edition. Nice car, four door for the kid and well... a Nissan. Unfortunatly despite the great price, my wifes poor credit and several thousand dollars upside down in her trade-in POS she is still paying out the ass for the car, $540 a month I believe, I told her I coulda bought a Jag and payed less but ####... she was happy.

So I am thinking if we throw in her car into the deal to get rid of the negative equity and end the ridiculous payments which after a year are no longer making her happy (surprised? women.....) Right now we are paying about $800 a month in car payments for my 240sx, and her Altima, and I have a payed off Saturn as a beater. So if I can trade the two cars in, put a hefty down payment, and come out with a 350z payment of less than 800 (and get a mid 90's 4 door beater for her to drive) a month then we win right?
She is all for this, and has agreed to pay half the payment on my new Z which would be still be way better than what she is paying now (and I agreed to let her drive it occasionaly lol). I would have to find an older 4-door sedan for cheap that she could drive to work, Im thinking around 5k I could find a decent ride for her. Honestly she no longer cares about driving a new car, she wants out of her huge Altima payment so bad she is ready to drive it into a lake and make it disappear.

So where is all this heading, and why have I bothered to type this up? Well, because I am unsure wether the numbers are gonna add up the way I am saying, also Im not sure wether the Z is gonna bring me the joy my 240 has and I want your oppinions.
Do my numbers sound right? Is the Z gonna be worth it? Do I really want to put a halt to my 240 project until October to find out wether this is gonna work or not?

Come on guys and gals lend me some input here, what would you do if you were in my shoes? Would you be willing to sacrifice the next 9 months of car upgrades for a shot at a Z car? I just dont know what to do and the thoughts are eating at my brain hehe.

putting 4-5k on ur 240 now may halt ur entire 350z idea... and turbo kits generally cause problems... so its something to think about..

<<<<MONKEYWRENCH>>>>

Well I just went to Nissans website to double check when the Z is coming out and... its 2003!!!
Dammit that would mean I would have to hold off on modifying my 240sx for almost 2 years, and by then my whole situation could be completely different. I might be buying a house or something in 2003.. who knows.

Well at least I got my thoughts off my chest, one can still dream right?

I still owe about 6k on my 240, trade in at the right dealer could get me anywhere from 9-12k depending on how bad they want to sell me a car, and how much I play the game with them.
The Altima LOL forget it, she'll be paying for that thing till she is 50. I swear I tried to talk her out of it but you know women, once they set eyes on something....

Aren't you a little to old to be playing with toys?... J/K <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I not sure if this is much help but If you're buying a house in 2003 them buying a sports car will be a bad idea. Remember buying a house is much more important then a car last time I checked. Stick with you're 240sx and turn him into a monster it will be much better them dumping 30K on a car. (man I wish I could afford that) What I say is buy a altima 3.5 it as allot of attitude for grocery getter. &nbsp;Just don't please do all of us fa avor don't buy a S.U.V. Them I'll have to hunt you don't... J/k.

Well off to sell computers for me, bye. Maybe I'll ask Ex-car sales man on what you should do.
