He's a good player. But not $80 million good.To me this is another Joe Johnson situation. Harden is a very good player but idk if he's worth that much! I guess we will find out as the season progresses.

In a league where Carlos Loozer, Joe Johnson and Amar'e The Extinguishinator are all making max money, I highly doubt that James Harden getting 80 mill is a problem. Atleast he's only 23 and is only going to get better. Atleast the kid can ball unlike those other max players. Hell Rudy Gay is on a max contract as well and i wouldn't take him over Harden

im quite shocked harden scored 45 points today against a relatively decent defensive team in atlanta. granted horford and josh smith probably protect the interior better and harden was probably lighting it up from the perimeter. i thought the 37 points was a fluke against a shitty detroit team.

i had a discussion on harden today with my coworker. he was saying he believes harden can be a 30ppg scorer this season with no one in houston and jeremy lin will want to set him up and pass him the ball. his points were that harden plays plays smart and efficient basketball, has a good shooting stroke and a good slasher, and probably better than westbrook (that last point i don't doubt).

i argued no way based on 1 game. agreed he will get more shots and minutes as the main dog in houston, but 30ppg is lbj and durant territory. i don't think he's that good. i'm predicting he might increase his scoring average to 20-22ppg and possibly 25ppg at his best (the way eric gordon did it with the clippers as the lone guy) and that will put him near an aging kobe territory, but even then i questioned him if he thought harden is better sg than kobe at this point in time and he seemed unsure about that.

The biggest question I still have about Harden's game is when it counts the most. He faded when he was at ASU in the big games. He disappeared in the finals last year too. Maybe just an age thing? Maybe. But I would have loved to have him back in the valley if we had players that OKC wanted.

If the Lakers are getting Phil back this is a good move. But if Phil isn't coming back this isn't so great. Fired 5 games into the season doesn't give any hope to the next Coach. Imagine if Pat would have fired Spo after the 9-8 start 2 years ago?

usually i would brush off the pre-season talk, since i am a believer that pre-season means nothing, starters usually only play like 15 mins a game, and management is using it to gauge who from camp will make the team, but lakers going 0-8 with pretty much their set roster in preseason followed by going 1-4 into the regular season is kind of bad.
