extended KA Trans Shifter
anyone ever extend the Shifter on a KA trans?
My application calls for it but im not sure if its a simple cut and extend. Mounting a ka trans to a 1uz and putting in a ls400. or if there is a kit or a custom maker of this please point me in the right direction. |

because a 1uz isnt pushing 300HP and before you even start dont even say a ka trans wont work. it has been done plenty of times and the 4 speed gear box will work perfect

and yeah, if you're gonna go through all the work of making a custom adapter plate, you should pick a more durable trans, like z32 or z33. |

you still haven't explained what you mean by "extend".
are you looking for something like this? just to extend the existing shifter? ![]() or do you need it cut and welded into an entirely new location? if you can fab up a trans adaptor, surely you must be capable of cobbling together a new shifter out of an old one. i'm not sure why you needed a thread for this? |

it's as simple as that. The trick it to do it cleanly so it doesn't look like ass.

Need to do this same thing actually. Since the center of weight would not be directly above shifter anymore, I was curious if it may cause the transmission to start popping out of gear in 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

It does make for a good excuse to have an obnoxiously-angled shifter made.
![]() Or you could do something like the Sikky shifters. Though I have not found anyone willing to make one for the KA/SR transmission. ![]() |

![]() As stated above, i was worried about the throw of the shift. i remember reading a thread about extending the W58 shifter and they had a hard time getting the gears just right. But then again i believe that trans shifts different (the design of the shifter) |
