Good welder for all around use?

Might not be the right section, sorry, if it is please move it!

So I am looking to start welding in my own exhaust, as every shop I contact refuses to cut catalytic converters, or mufflers, even though I tell them its a dedicated track car due to laws.

I also want to weld in small cages later on, and eventually build a tube buggy 4x4 (different forum, I know) or general things.

I have small experience with welding, I asked if I could try at my shop and they let me run beads on a steel beam. They came out decent but that was using a miller (unknown volt, or any specs).

I would like something big enough to penetrate the average 2" .120 wall DOM, and gentle enough for exhaust piping. I'm already purchasing a pipe bender when I move.

I would like to also stay within popular name brands.

Thanks.

I would think that any old 220v MIG welder would do just fine... Examples would be a Hobart Handler 190 or 210, or a Miller 212.

I've seen lots of hobarts on craigslist, mainly 125s I've heard these are ok for light use, but I haven't heard of use with a cage.
