Haha, I will have to look into Hoosier.

Next question, I have a cluster lens in pretty damn good shape. Very light scratches. Now I have seen your wet sand and pinnacle 1-4 method in this thread.

Is there an of the shelf product that can help me with the "last" step or two of the polishing process? Such as 'plastx' or some other vatozone item you'd find acceptable?

Hey Broadfield,
I searched on how to do the LED DCC swap and came across page 15 on your thread. Pictures are not loading anymore. If you could re upload them or send them to my email: [email protected] that would be awesome. Please and Thank you.

I couldn't really tell you, I simply use standard polish. Nothing is going to work as well as various levels of polish. Because one product can't remove different levels of scratches. With each level of sandpaper or polish, you are essentially just creating finer and finer scratches each time you step to a finer paper or polish. So if you have a couple "level-3" scratches on the lens, then level-1 polish cannot take those out. You would need to use the level-2 polish to get the level-3 scratches out, then use level-1 polish to get the level-2 polish scratches out. Then use glaze to get the level-1 polish scratches out. So unless the PlastX has a couple different levels of product included in the kit, then you are stuck with whatever "level" of polish is in the kit. I hope that makes sense.

You didn't post how many watts the amplifier is? I need to know RMS wattage... or the fusing on the amplifier would actually be a better indicator. So you plan on running the stereo with the engine off a lot?

Hey Toby. What audio setup would you recommend for my 180sx? My stock head unit i've been using recently broke so i'm keen to fork out some $$ and get a decent head unit, speaker, amp and sub setup. The music i listen to is usually Drum n bass, Dubstep & Electro house. It would be great if you could give me couple of options and i'll see if those units are available where i live(NZ). Preferably a single din setup for the head unit!

Can you get the brands Alpine, Hybrid Audio and ARC Audio over there? I can simply ship you the stuff if not... but I'm not sure on the radio if the tuner section would be correct. Regardless you could the rest from me if the price works in your favor to do so.

The audio shops near my area sells alot of Fusion, sony & pioneers stuff which i've never really been a fan of.. They do stock some Alpine and JVC headunits such as kd-x50, kw-av61, KD-r90 etc. How much do you reckon the shipping would be? I've never seen any Hybrid audio or ARC audio components being sold here in NZ im afraid

So 400 watts RMS total?

Battery won't matter then. The battery is only if you are listening to the stereo when the engine is not running. And since you are running a V8, the alternator will have a higher output than the alternators used on typical 4-cylinder engines. 400 watts RMS is very little in the grand scheme of things and will only have around 30 amps of max draw.

I finally feel that my daily Fit needs an audio upgrade. I recently picked up a Pioneer AVH-3100DVD to replace the OEM h/u and I wonder what else I should pick up to complete an entry level audio setup?

I'm not a crazy bass head or audiophile by any means, just want something better than the stock trash.

Nothing much has changed man. My girls are growing up right before my eyes, my wife is awesome, I still love my job even after 20 years and I still don't have time to work on the S13

I have had no problems reported. If you are doing a setup that doesn't retain any sort of vent... like in my S13 center gauge plates that I sell that still have vent slots in the aluminum plate, then you can simply seal off the duct behind it.

Hey Toby, if this is easier for you to email to talk about it i dont have a problem with it.

I just want to finally wire up the remote start on my viper 5904v, do you happen to know which wires go where off the top of your head?

also, I may be in the market for a new head unit relatively soon. Something bluetooth capable, that will pair well with the ARC audio xdi804 and HA Mirius' I got from you around January.

I'm starting to hate my car because it seems like the simplest things are becoming 20 times harder then it should be.

I wired up a DIF PWM fan controller to my 90 S13 hatch with SR and its straight forward yet it's giving me problems.

I have it wired as follows.
BA -> Battery
IG -> Blue wire off the ignition
AC -> not yet connected
MA -> not yet connected
S+ -> to temp sensors positive wire
S- -> not connected because for some reason it only works with it disconnected.
Black ground -> ground
White ground -> fans ground wire
Fan+ -> battery
Sitting in my drive way I set the controller to 162F and let it warm up. My temp gauge hits 162F and the fans turn on. Perfect.

Would you happen to have any idea why my stupid controller would loose power when I'm under load though?

Sitting and idling the controller works perfect. Start driving or rev the engine and the controller shuts off completely. Then once I stop or the car idles agains the controller turns on.

This thing has been a pain in my ass the whole time I've had it and its driving me nuts. I'd hate to ditch it because it cost me a pretty penny.

Any input from anyone with any ideas would be extremely appreciated.

Ok cool. What are the steps required to actually block of the center vents (In s14) and still retain function of other vents properly? It will probably be nice when blocked of due to the increase of air flow out the other vents..

I'm thinking of dyeing the carpet in my Vert. Do you have any suggestions on what product I should use?

Thanks in advanced.

You would simply block off the opening right behind the vent that you are utilizing for gauges etc. The easiest way is to use duct tape. Or you can cut a piece of wood or ABS the shape of the opening in the duct and pressure fit it in.

They only have the purple and the bright nickel plated. You would have to anodize them yourself or pay a place to do it. I have plated things myself and it's really cool. You would need to reverse the plating procedure to strip the purple off, then anodize it whatever color you want. This is where I bought my Zinc plating kit from:

Hey Toby, I've been working on a cluster surround similar to the one you just posted in the interior thread. I'm painting it with SEM color coat. The first time I painted straight onto the plastic, there was a very slight difference in how the paint took to the plastic vs. the body filler texture. So I got some plastic primer (not SEM product), primed it on the weekend and just tried laying on the SEM today and as I expected it lifted the primer slightly in spots. Any suggestions? Do you use any sort of primer normally?

Well, I never use primer and I never use filler.
