Floppy Sun Visor

Anyone have a fix for a floppy sunvisor?

As you can probably guess, like almost every other 240 driver I have coilovers and the ride is a little stiffer than stock. Coupled with 23+ year old sunvisors, it gets a little, ahem, floppy and drops down and generally ticks me off.

Anyone fixed this in their ride? I tried pouring glue down there but to no avail.

I highly doubt that actual dealer new sunvisors are still available. You'll have to find a good used set. Your issue is not that common, most 240 sun visors are fine. It shouldn't be a problem finding a good used pair.

I bought a used one from a reputable guy here on Zilvia, however it has the same issue. I don't really want to keep chucking money on other ones, I would rather fix the one I have.

As far as I know there is no way to take apart the sun visor and tighten up the pivot mechanism. The visor actually clips onto the little 90* rod for the pivot. You can pull it apart and try to wedge something in there. Maybe a thin piece of plastic or maybe a piece of soda can. I MIGHT have a set that's good though. I'll have a look and let you know. It's possible that the clip that holds the inner portion of the sun visor is worn as well. Have you tried another clip, or just the visor itself???

The arm piece that fits inside the visor is probably worn. You could pull those pieces out and try wrapping the part that fits into the visor with teflon or electrical tape or like racepar said wedge something in there to tighten it up if you can't find a good used set. I was going to try something like this to get my S15 sun visors to work on my S14.

Same thing happens to my passenger side visor..

I just spank it back up. It does it annoying sometimes as it flaps in my peripherals but at least my spanking is on point now though

I have only tried a different visor, to no avail. Tonight I will pull it apart and see if I can get the little 90* arm taped up or something smooshed in there to try to get some action on the thing.

I have the same problem with my driver's side.... I believe mostly due to the garage door opener that is attached to it.

I have a spare brown pair I can sell ya if you are interested.

the problem is that this circled red thing (you can pull it out of the visor) is worn down or not a tight fit anymore.

what i did was pull it out and wrap it in electrical tape. i should say however to make wrap it as thin as possible, one way around should do it. wrapping it in multiple layers will cause it to not go back in, or take off the tape you just put on. ...once wrapped, squeeze it back in and it'll hold just fine in any position.

might seem like a janky idea, but it fuckin' works.

Trust me, enjoy your floppy sun visors. I have some damn near new ones in my car and they're a fucking BITCH to move to the window. I'm afraid they're going to break every time I use them.
