16/18/20G with T3 turbine housing. Cheap and responsive. There are lots and lots of threads documenting people's experiences with top-mount setups, there is no need for you to make a new thread about it.

First of all, you would be very stupid to do top mount set up if you only want 300whp for your SR. Factory T28 will do just fine for you.

Also, try to search before making an unnecessary thread which it has been discussed/talked over and over and over again previously.

I found these thread with very small effort.

It's time to read.

Actually even though its your thread, your comment is the useless one.

He gave you sound advice, your plan was stupid, as a whole if you want 300ish HP he's in the right area, a lot closer than you are.

A top mount setup is just plain stupid for 300hp, you get all the negatives and no real gains - extra heat near the brake master to deal with, extra clearance issues, extra plumbing issues, lots of extra money to do right.

Unless you're honestly going to put down 450+ RWHP, you're just wanting to waste money.

300ish whp? S14/15 stock turbo, GTiR stock turbo

Little more ? 2860RS "disco potato" or GTiR rebuilt with discopotato coldside, aftermarket 18G

A step up from that and in the 360+ RWHP range GT2871R, aftermarket 20G

All more than capable of making over 300WHP, without costing you $4000 in hardparts, actually quite a few options there that are sub $1000

Be smart, or just ignore sound advice, buy whatever you feel like, and make sure to post about it so we can laugh at your stupidity.

If you are going topmount, just spend the money now and get a sweet setup.

He already has a top mount setup on the car. He bought it that way. Hence no going back to stock.

Clearly in your 1st post, and in your 2nd post you did not say anything about already having a topmount setup. (which means i'm going with you again
looking like the "ass hat")

You only made mention of wanting to know peoples exp with topmount turbos, and managed to provide 1 whopping piece of info (a small blurb about 4 bolts), T3 ? T4? GT 3" exhaust side ? All are possibilities here for 4 bolts

I'd love to know how already having a topmount setup means its impossible to go back to a stock manifold, especially when it makes a million times more sense for the application / intended power / $

Power.

I know he already has a top mount setup, which is why he should actually use the top mount closer to its potential. But can't disagree with the fact that a turbo car built for response can be more fun than a car that will light the tires on the highway once the turbo spools.

As posted above you should really look into going back to bottom mount. If you are not planning on making 400+ whp, you are not taking advantage of the benefits of a top mount setup and subject to the disadvantages, such as sacrificed response from the the longer runners and reliability due to tubular manifolds cracking.

If you really want to keep the current setup, you can get a GT(X)28xx with a T3 turbine housing from atpturbo.com, that I think would best meet your hp goal and offer the best response.

Because it's probably some cast iron T3/T4 manifold with some cheapo T3/T04 CXracing turbo on it.

OP, if you ever revisit this thread, I would like to share that your [lack of] communication skills are astounding... Asshat.

Since you already have a top mount and don't want to go back, hopefully you heeded post #4 and didn't go buy some knockoff. Make sure the rest of your stuff (injectors, MAFS, pump) are worthy, eh.

I think there are people here, like myself, and a few above, who are willing to help you if you provide us with the information we need.

If you want to stay with your current top mount configuration, assuming you have a T3 4 bolt configuration, the most reliable setup would be a GT3071R with the smallest turbine housing you can get (48 or 64AR). Don't turn it up unless you have the fueling and a standalone to support it.

You haven't indicated if you have an external wastegate or have the requirement for an internal gate. Internal gates in T3 mount turbos are less common.

T3/T4 housing turbos are less commonly found with dual ball bearings, so they don't last as long and most of them are more laggy designs. Steep learning curve with off-brand setups.

Post your supporting mods, budget and maybe we can provide more assistance. Precision Turbo might be an option, but don't expect it to last forever if it is a journal bearing model.
