Overheating!!! Help me please!!!
Okay so my s14 with the ka24de keeps overheating but only on hot days 80+ temperature
I have done -new water pump -new thermostat -drilled hole on top of thermostat - 1 Efan (had two but got caught on my clutch fan) - new clutch fan -new coolant - burped it 1000x -180 compression on all cylinders -new temp sensor I have done basically all I can think of and have spent hours doing research I had a 2 row cx racing radiator but it got a hole in it... Is there something I need to do? Also it's says it's getting hot so I turn it off and when I turn it again it is in the middle again....... As of right now I am running without a thermostat and it's still getting hot I'm about to the point to where I'm ready to sell the car I'm irritated. Please help me. Thank you. *I have been told it might be my gauge cause it would say it getting close to over heating and my thermostat is not open yet cause the bottom hose is ice cold* What I currently have on the car currently -stock rad -1efan -clutch fan with shroud -50/50 coolant -no thermostat(I know it's bad but It helped) And all new water pump, temp sensor.

I've seen an s14 have a problem with the gauge, being its just on hot days I'm guessing this isn't the problem. A simple test of feeling the valve cover or radiator hose should tell you if its either overheating or there is a problem with the gauge.
If it is overheating, it could be running too lean. New oil will also help it stay cooler. |

Replace the gauge temp sensor and report back (KA have 2, one for the ECU one for the Guage). Better yet, get a Consult cable, plug it in and see the ACTUAL temperature your ECU is seeing instead of your middle-biased oem temp sensor.

he's most likely has a small head gasket leak by now. Is your temp gauge reading just above normal. If so look for small bits of oil in your coolant.
You've done everything i'd have done but change the head gasket bro. How old is your radiator? Is it rusty or maybe has a blockage causing probs for flow. also eliminate the damn heater core by bypassing it with a small 45 degree or 90degree piece of pipe and do the bleed again. |

Nope it's not the head gasket just checked it and it's 1-190 2-189 3-187 4-184 Yes this radiator is pretty rusty I might fix my 2 row aluminum rad see how that does. And what would eliminating the heater core help with?? It's not leaking. The next steps I'm doing is 1. Flushing coolant system 2. Putting on an aluminum rad 3. Thermal test gun thingy and check if it's real at operating temp 4. Swap this Ka lol It really is a reliable car it's getting warm and I never let it get hot once I see it warming up I blast the heater and it's fine

If it was a heater core, your floor would be wet by the feet. How many thermostats did you try? |

[ QUOTE=blueshark123;5621677]Turn heat on high when bleeding it ? and jack up front end.[/QUOTE]
Yes I do that every time I jack up as high as possible then I crank the heat and burp it for like 30mins

Temperature gauge says you are over heating but your lower radiator hose is cold? That does not say "headgasket" to me nor should it to you. If the speedometer says 60mph but your are standing still, dont replace the clutch |

I'd buy a new radiator too, it's possible that it's gunked up inside.
My car is a KA-T, and it used to overheat easily on 85+ degree days and even overheat on 75+ days if I put on the a/c. Turns out my A/C condenser was clogged with random crap and blocked the air to the radiator. It's a long shot, but I'd at least take a light and check yours out. |

if you replaced it with a Autozone Thremo, then that probably your issue. When My S14 had a KA in it I replaced the thermo with an Autozone one, Defi Gauge show my temps at 100+ *C and climbing when on the interstate.replaced it with a NISSAN OEM one temps dropped to around Low 80*C

My car would always over heat, replaced the thermo 2-3 times, the guy before that i got the car from had like 4 boxes of thermos lol, replaced both coolant temp sensors, new rad, still over heated, only thing I had to do was bleed the coolant system and as far as I know, the over heating stopped (as far as i know because the car as of now is in the shop).

Had a very similar problem and did every step you had listed. The one important thing i forgot to check was the radiator cap. You can check this by using the pressure tester rented from autozone or just buy a new cap. If your system is not holding pressure then the temperature at which the coolant will boil is alot lower.
