Dual radiator fans spose to remove the big engine fan?

I got dual radiator fans along with a bigger radiator. Someone told me they are to replace the big engine fan blade that is attached to the pulley? Is that true

You can do that. I have a koyo aluminum radiator with dual altima fans with no clutch fan and my ka has never overheated.

If you seriously can't take the 2 minutes to find some engine bay photos ( pretty sure we have an entire thread of em) and see that everyone running e-fans has removed the clutch fan, then you deserve a bit of flaming.

Yes electric fans are used when the clutch fan is removed. However, the clutch fan with the fan shroud typically cools better than electric fans.

Why are you using E-Fans?

It was a good advice though. If he can't figure this out, i can't even imagine what will happen when he needs to change his wipers ! Do you think he can manage to find he need to remove the old ones first ?

Oh okay thanks... I was only asking because I have a good inch of room from my dual fans and to my clutch fan and I didn't want my radiator fans on 24/7

take the fan blade off the clutch assembly and youll need to purchase the adapter plate that connects the pulley to the radial mechanism on the electric fans. make sure you have an extra large capaciter for the added voltage drain on your electrical system. you may also want to consider switching over to a high viscosity fluid

And that is why people use a fan controler, or a relay, a couple of thermostatic switches to start and stop the fans at a given temperature, and a manual switch to force the fans ON when we want to.

Look, I know I was harsh when i wrote the first message, and i apologise for it. But i was actually a bit serious : you will not achieve good results if you try to mod your car BEFORE getting some knowledge about it. And when i say "no good results", i mean setting your car on fire or destroying it. Not fun if it happens with the car stopped in the street, even less fun when it happens while you are driving it, or when it is sitting in your garage while you are sleeping.

If you don't know about electrics, you risk setting your car on fire when wiring your fans for example. You cannot directly wire the fans. The SAFE wiring method is to use quality insulated wiring, holders to guide the wires and not transmit vibrations, a fuse, and a relay. A fan controler holds that usually, but you still have to locate a suitable place for it, and wire it.

If your new fans can't move enough air (and unless they come from another car, they probably can't), you may blow your engine, and so on.

The OEM fan is pretty good, and is also hassle free to install, as it is already in it. Combine it with its shroud and the undertray beneath the car, and you should never have temperature problems.
