I had a tcs sportline strut bar that slightly touches my valve cover on my s14 sr with nismo mounts. Are there any name brand strut bars that actually clears? Cusco, apexi, nismo etc.

Nismo mounts tend to raise the engine. So you have a few bars that will probably always touch. Simply look at designs. Some have more clearance than others.

S14 SRs require quite a bit of room for clearance, youre going to have to experiment with different strut bars until you find one that fits due to the giant hump in the middle of the valve cover coupled with your NISMO mounts.

fun fact, nissan incorporated the OEM catchcan on the redtop/black SR20det into the valve covers on the S14/S15 notchtop motors... hence why theres a giant hump in the middle.

Cusco bars seem to clear. Mine did on my S14 Sr swap. I haven't tested it with the VVL swap.

Let me know how the clearance is with the P11 VC vs. the S14/S15 VC.

My S13 Steal Custom Fab bar (which is awesome BTW) just barely fit with my S15 SR. I just skimmed a bit of the logo with an angle grinder to give it some more clearance, so it should be fine.

thanks for all the response, most likely ill go with cusco cause it looks nice haha. Ill keep you guys posted if i end up getting one that clears so people know where to look in the future.

Do you know what type of cusco bar you used? Its with the nismo mounts right?

I believe it is a Cusco Type 40D. Yes, that was with Nismo mounts.

I'll let you know once I get the end plates cleaned and painted. My guess is that it's going to be tighter than the S14/15 VC because of the height of the intake side of the VC.

I wanted to update this thread for those who ran into this problem. All i did was buy a engine damper which uses a strut tower plate and just install it and it will space out the strut bar a lil higher so it clears perfectly and should with most strut bars. Easy fix!

Or if your baller enough you can get the nagisa skakitto plates which will also raise it up.
