RB25 Transmission Rebuild

I was rebuilding my motor over the winter when I figured I should also rebuild the trans because its super skiddish between gears. The trans doesnt shift into any gear smoothly. Ive been working with the google machine trying to find synchros for my trans but couldnt find anything. People have been telling me to just buy a replacement trans but its expensive and there is a chance that it might have the same problem. I have a S2 rb25 so any help would be appreciated.

There is alot of things that can cause your issues, you need to pull it apart and investigate.. i have rebuilt the rb25 trans.. it's not very easy to do.. it requires multiple pullers and a press to take apart.. my synchros were actually in decent shape. It was the insert springs that were missing and beat up.. i also replaced all the bearings..

I used a kit off eBay that was made for a Z32. You can get the insert springs directly from nissan.

Good call Sforteen, I also came across a skyline thread talking about synchro clips breaking and falling off, Sforteen do you know if the z32 kit comes with these? This is the link with the synchro clip info http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/2...into-4th-gear/.

The kit doesn't come with them, read what I posted. You can get them directly from nissan, you will need at least 3, 5th gear uses them as well might as well replace those too.

I rebuilt my ka trans, which is basically the same. It is not difficult. Just find your procedures on alldata or direct hit. If you rebuilt your engine, the trans will be a breeze.

it's a long shot, but if anyone is interesed I have a couple RB25 transmissions that can be had under 2K these are brand new Nissan Units, not remanufactured or reconditioned. but brand new transmissions if anyone is interested.

other than that yes both the Z32 and R33 RB25 transmissions share the same rebuild kits.
