OK, we all love our cars and have lots of nice things to say about it. That's all I read about in these forums, but what do you wish that should have been improved? Here's a few from me:
1998 240SX 1. After I wash my car and dry it, I roll down my windows and walah, what I just got drying is wet again! This never happened in my Integra. <-- don't panic I sold it. 2. Door is so heavy that it squeeks a week after it gets lubed! 3. Cupholders are nonexistent, well there's a rectangle in there that they call cupholders. 4. Rear seat is nonexistent, but I don't really care. 5. The stereo could be improved. I just put in a 3 disc CD changer from Nissan and it cost me $650 installed and it sucks! Not enough power! Anyone want to buy it? 6. Last, but not least, too many good looking women look at me when I'm driving in it. Ask me why it's bad? It's because I'm MARRIED. I can't do anything about their pretty faces and sexy body wanting to get close to me and my BEAUTIFUL car! (Wife, if you're reading this, I love you!) Anyone else have anything? |

Yea,
#1 The pop ups for the s13 never should have existed, #2 Fu$kin luggage rack option for the trunk, #3 2-tone paint never should have been an option, #4 Never should have made a NON-TURBO Other than those 4 things, THE CAR IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT... P.S. Why would you be dumb enough to buy a stereo add-on at the dealer and have it installed at a dealer...? |

hmmm complaints about my s14....I'd have to say the transmission....When I took it to redline going from 2nd to 3rd...shifting fast...I'd get a grind everytime...oh and it doesnt handle abuse to well from an ACT 6 puck...hmm wouldnt mind more agressive cams for a higher redline and more hp out of the ka...but the nos and latter the sr20 took care of that.

for the S13 fastback:
-seats could be more comfortable -the tail light assembly retains an endless supply of water which it randomly disperses for days after the car is washed, leaving nice little streaks down the back. -power could be improved...better cams for more top end or, better yet, a CA or SR USDM factory turbo option. hmmmmm....that's about it. Other than that, it's all love. |

On a '98 SE, the only complaints I have are:
• I'm tall and have very muscular legs, and that dámn emergency brake lever is on the drivers side?!? rubs my right leg constantly. • The shifts are too long and not solid, like most of you said, missed shifts. The only car I would trade it for (reasonably thinking, leaving out Ferrari's and such) is a Z32, or maybe a Supra. |

1) no back seat (but fortunately i don't have to sit there)
2) lack of a better engine(more power that is ) from the factory (it could have been an option on the nicer trim levels at least) 3) How about the insurace rating on a 240. the lady at the insurance company said the car is rated almost as high as a corvette (one or two points lower.) She said its a 22 out of 30. Mmmm.... maybe i'll start a new thread on this. |

hehe...you S14 people are complaining about the square cup holder. S13s don't have a cup holder period. I have to take the ash tray out and set the cup/can/bottle down in the hole...lol.

K first off Id like to explain that the rectangular cup holder on the s14's are supposed to have a small plastic piece that slides into it to make it 2 seperate cupholders, perfect for cans. You can remove the piece to fit a larger size cup. If you bought your car second hand the original owner prolly lost it a long time ago. I have no idea how you could find one now, maybe the dealer could order it or something.
I still have mine since I am the original owner of my vehicle You guys may wanna ask a Nissan dealer about it, if I ever get any pics of my car up, Ill show you what I am talking about. The original brouchur that Ive got you can barely see that the cup holder is divided, maybe I can scan it in and post it. As for complaints..... My only complaint is that my base model coupe only has 4 lug wheels thats the only disappointment Ive found so far, I just didnt know about those things when I bought the car. I have no other complaints, I bought the car knowing that it had a small back seat and it didnt seem to matter then. Jeez I cant think of anything else.. what can I say, I love my car (Edited by mrace240sx at 1:24 pm on Oct. 22, 2001) |

the worst thing about 240's is that they dont import them any more..... what were they thinking anyway |

Ah HA!
I think I found a pic that kinda shows it. http://www.nissannews.com/nissan/97product/vehicles/240sx/imgs/se_int_c.jpg notice that the cup holder has a split in it. Its a big pic may take awhile to view. |

S13 pet peeves:
1. Unsuporting seats 2. Driving in the rain/snow, rwd! 3. The KA should have never existed, turbo all the way. Another way around the cupholder(for resealable bottles only) you can fit a coke bottle or something between your seat buckle and center console. There's a little groove, your bottle fits secure and is easy to get at. |

1) Eats brake shoes like candy...mmm
2) Seat backs are easily worn especially on the sides. 3) I am surprised no one has mentioned the sorry locks in the column and doors. Those I have replaced twice. Otherwise a great car for the money. For those that wished it had more power...ya should have bought a car that had it. I could have gone RX 7 or 300 Z but these were much more $$. The 240 was in my range then, and still remains a great car now. Cant say that about most others I have owned. |

my locking mechanism still works fine.
And about the "if you wanted a more powerful car you should have bought a more powerful car" statement...you can afford to say that with an S2000 sitting in the garage (BTW...you likes?). I couldn't afford much more than what I paid for my 240 at the time. |

all i hate about my car is how quickly i go through first and second gear. they should have changed the ratios to like 3.0 and 1.7. well don't quote me on that i don't know how much it would affect first and second gear but i hate them, that's all i know.

about the insurance thing, my 92 240 is cheaper with then my 91 ford escort-base model. LOL
my peeves are: 1-no standard LSD...should be a standard for RWD "sporty" cars. 2-what's up with skinny tires! I want standard 225's! not 195 or 205! 3-should have let us have the SR20 in two forms, could have done it with the Q and K...Q would be NA, K would be turbo. that's all |

stbrnd,
I agree with lance, if you had 50K to drop into an s2000, and the same to buy and upgrade a 240, I would take the 240, it would kill the s2000. Secondly, I don't think this car eats brakes. It's your driving which eats brakes. I have never had that as a problem (drive an explorer, that eats brakes). |

yeah, mine hasn't had a problem either. It's all in how you use them I guess... Driving at highway speeds I very rarely use the brakes, and around town, only use them when coming to a full stop.
Oh, as for things that bother me... They stopped importing them, lack of cupholder, unsuportive seats... all reletively small problems. (Edited by transient at 1:34 pm on Oct. 22, 2001) |

Its not quite as fast as I would have liked but its nothing a few mods can't take care of. Also the shape of the floor on the drivers stide makes it hard to put a thick floor mat down. And about the s14 cup holder, just get a small ball (3-5" wide) and put it in next to your cup and it won't fall over.
