What oil for black top (sorry new guy here)

Hello,
Sorry Im new here couldnt find the search bar....
anyway my friend was in need of some cash so I bought his 96 240 from him...car is clean no rust..that purple color idk what its called (but someone said its a rare color...idk) im probably gonna use it for some road course events and such anyway car is an sr20det black top with 5 spd.. about 60k miles with stock bottom end with Jim Wolfe Cams and gt28
Just wondering if anyone could tell me the purolator pure one oil filter part number and what weight oil do you guys run.

also any info you wanna throw in for me would be good...im very new to the nissan game..I know a fair amount when it comes to cars and building etc etc but mainly toyotas (i own a MKIV supra too) but if anyone wants to tell me some tips or tricks or things i should watch out for when working on this car it would be great...

thanks in advance

Anthony

They sell special oil in Japan specifically for sr20s you'll have to import them from Japan which will take about a month of you could wait. It's recommended by Nissan to use special sr20 oil only so don't use rotella or castrol synthetic or Mobil synthetic 5w-30. Only sr20 oil

really?? wow wasnt expecting that....

I use AMSOIL in every car that i own and i swear by it...

Does anyone know what the differences are in the oil?? Is it synthetic oil from nissan??
I mean I can see other fluids like trans fluids etc etc (i have to run a special toyota getrag oil only for supras with 6 speeds)
Ive never heard of special oil in a car...not that I dont trust you guys but i didnt expect it...
i use amsoil in a murcielago and thats a car they recommend buying special but it turns out its just overpriced so you buy it from them only...

thanks

Anthony

cant resist... hurts...

depends on temperature. Here is Florida I would use 10W-30 or 10W-40 mobil 1 depends on mileage

they're busting your balls. amsoil, redline, rotella t5, anything full synthetic 10w30 is fine. if it's super hot this summer in NJ run something thicker like 15w40. if you dont already have an oil pressure gauge get one. oil starvation kills sr's

next time search for answers. this has been covered hundreds of times. and its probably midnight purple (lp2) from the gtr's.

amsoil sig 10w30 since i live in texas. dont keep your rev's high. if you've been boosting hard make sure to let your car idle for about a minute to preserve your turbo's life. if things mess up on your engine there are a lot of parts compatible stateside to shorten downtime. searching will save your reputation, any question or problem you may encounter has been documented and answered many times over. if you cant find your answer, you havent tried searching deep enough. treat your sr right and it will do the same to you, good luck with your build.

If you read other peoples posts, you would see that they said to google the FSM. That will give you all the specs you could want. And no one likes to spoon feed people answers to basic questions. Especially when its questions that are asked over and over because people are to lazy to search.

i've been using redline 10w30 over the winter, just ordered redline 10w40 that'll be going in this weekend.

i've only ran full synthetics, apparently some companies will claim "synthetic" but it's actually a blend. make sure you read the fine print.
