How long will axles last on a welded diff?

I am going to be running a welded diff soon, and i heard that this will cause alot of stress on the axles. How long should they last around?? what do you guys do when you go to track, bring spare axles just incase??

I think that really depends on the weld job.

So you must drive in a lot of straight lines. Cool.
The axles will hold up much longer than the welded diff.

depends on how hard you wll drive it and how much hp. upper 300's and ++ axles will break easily. stock HP and a few bolt ons will be fine i think.

Has Luke had any complaints? Im pretty confident the diffs will hold up, and I havent heard of anybody breaking axles yet with a welded diff. Its hell on subframe bushings though.

Exactly 17,453 miles, or 1.67 years...whichever comes first.

Hehe.

The stock 240SX axles are VERY strong...I bet they'll last pretty damn long.

Not at all. As long as the spider gears are locked, no matter how sloppy the job, the stress on the half-shafts is just a simple fact of the tires wanting to turn different speeds and the halfshafts wanting to turn the same speed. This stresses the axles, and while it might not snap one, it'll ruin the CV joints much more quickly.

As R240NA said, it's hard as hell on the diff and that runs a good chance of blowing up first. But that won't matter because you already ruined it by welding it. But hey, if a car that handles like shit in any situation you're NOT drifting is worth that much to you... go ahead and fuck up your car.

i've had one of luke's diffs, 2 actually and they are strong and react well. I havent heard any complaints from them and some people do prefer them more than other lsd's. hit luke up.
