cluster lights don't work, tail light fuse blows

Recently I've been having a problem with my under dash wiring on my 92 240sx fastback with original gauge cluster. My cluster lights don't work when I put the headlight switch to the middle position (side markers don't light up either, so could it be the switch?). This happened to me before on my 89, but it ended up being a blown fuse, which solved the problem when replaced. The brake/seatbelt/door ajar indicators still work however, as well as the clock (it still lights up when you put the key on the ACC position). Everything works on the cluster but the lights.

Also, my tail light fuse keeps blowing, so when I turn on the headlights, the tail lights don't come on, although it still comes on when you hit the brakes. Repace the fuse, turn on the headlights, it blows right away. I'm pretty sure it has to do with something under the dash near where the fuses are. Anyone have any idea?

You somehow have less resistance (Ohms) and a lot more current flow (amps) in the brake and other systems wiring. The wires are shorting out, or grounding out somewhere. Take it to a shop that deals with the electric part of the car.

RPS...refresh my memory here....do you have a third brake light on the hatch portion of your car? If you do, check the wiring harness that runs from the body of the S13 to the hatch itself. You might have a short in the harness that runs from the body of the S13 to the hatch. If the harness is okay, then check your wiring on the front of your side marker lights along with the ground point on your rear tails...you might have a shorted or loose wire.
Anyhow, hope this helps...
