I cant get this damn thing to run right! help!!

hey,
i have a 1991 240 coupe that i havent been able to really drive for a good 5 months because its been having some problems. If you could help that would be awesome.

ok. so when i first start the car up after its been sitting for awhile, it cranks like a champ. no problems. Now, if i were to crank it and say let off the starter to soon and try to start it then most likely it wont crank. it will just keep trying to crank and trying to crank and if i do it long enough then it slowly acts like the starter diisconnected from the flywheel like the engine doesnt even shake or anything. i dont know what that is about.
but whenever i try to start it and it doesnt i smell fuel pretty badly.
Oh and when i am driving at really low rpm's the car is buck alot back and forth. It just seems like no matter how long i drive it whether it be 30 min. or 1 min if i turn it off it wont start back. please help if at all possible. i really want to drive my baby soon. thanks in advance. joel

Most likely, you have leaking fuel injectors. Pull them out and check the o-rings. Just replace all the o-rings while you are at it.

You probably get black smoke and poor gas mileage too?

Check your fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. Hook it up to vacuum gauge and see what pressure it's at while at idle. I think it should be at 35 psi.
The attached links give more info...

Anyhow...hope this helps..

PS:
If you figure out the problem, can you please post the cure....thanks!!

have you looked under the hood yet the removal is rather straightforward go buy a chiltons manual to help you out
