s13 Offset opinion

Aight. I have no choice but to do a 5lug conversion now. I want to get wheels that fit RIGHT! I have now decided on a set. It's motegi's new 2 piece wheel designed specifically for nissans, and more specifically, for drifting. The 'touge' as the call it (dorifto). The offsets though are VERY exact. I want to ask the s13 guys if they think they will work out for my s13.

This is what I want. 17x9 come only in a +24 offset, which I feel is WAY too deep for the rears, so I want them on the fronts. For the rears, I want the 18x10, which only come in a +30 offset.

Do you guys think those offsets are fine for the s13, or are they going to be WAY too frogged? Also, I think they might be too wide. I got kyb's now, so they are bulkier then coiloversl ike most of oyu guys have. What do you think?

2.5" from mounting pad forward will get you flush without getting that froged out look or have to add madd camber.

P.S. You just gotta work your width's and offset's to get a correct combo.

LMAO@END YOURSELF NOW!!!

Sounds like something the Drill Instructor says in Marine Corps Boot Camp.....lmao

n e ways +24 and +30 aint too bad ... depending on how flush u want them to look n how much camber u got n blah blah blah

I just want to clear something up, you cant just throw a offset out there and say it should be fine, you have to state that offset with the width of rim you plan on using, they both go hand and hand.

18x8.5+30 would be fine and flush

18x9.5+30 would stick out 12mm more

18x8.5+24 you would have to have more camber than you would with 8.5+30 so they wouldn't rub on your stock fenders.

Best thing to do is mount a stock rim or any rim for that matter at ZERO camber, then measure with a level and ruler how much more you can come forward without going past the stock fender well.

^^^ofcourse you need to know the specs of the wheel you are mounting and measureing so you know what to apply to get your new offset.

the wheels arent designed specifically for drifting, the wheels are marketed as drifting to catch fishes like you.

What? lol. I didn't say it did... 'Touge' is the name of the wheel man, lol. (Here's the link http://www.motegiracing.com/wheels/d...yle=2175&desc= ) I was just quoting the add in the dealer catolog I got at work (we get dealers catalogs all the time at schwab's). I think it means that it is light, but uses stonger alloy, so though it is light, it can still hold the stress of drifting. I don't drift, or streetrace btw, and I don't claim to be a racer, or a doriftor, I think such things are ghey, or best left at the track. I felt like crap when I crashed my first s13, and that was an accident, I would feal even dumber if I wrecked it trying to drift a corner :P.

I already had a good idea of how it would fit. I've been working there in service and sales for 2 years, since I was 16, so you get used to offsets and width matching. Just wanted to know your opinions on widths because the s13 has the strangest rear to front difference I have ever seen. Thanks for the opinions. I do think it's too wide, especially in the back. I just had plans to do the z32 brake conversion soon, and it's tough to find a 4-4.5 +35-esque wheel that will clear the calipers. Anyhows. I'ma go try and find a better match. Thanks again.

lol. That's pretty good. But it has nothing to do with my post at all, since I said nothing about wanting to be a doriftor, lol. But it kind of reminds me of my buddy, who thought he could drift his vw gti :P . Like I mentioned htough, I have no interest in drifting, or racing, just wanted a wheel that would be flush with my wells. Not up for any sunken ships.

its specially made for drifting because before they are shipped out they are blessed by the drift KINGZOR himself. he dips his fingers in spent oil that came from a car that dripped oil all over the sacred track of seika hills and flicks them on the wheels saying "body of drift"

SERIOUUUUSLY dude don't be suckered into there marketing ploys of naming wheels TOE_GAY just because they think they can make sails...sales.

why don't i just name these "Dookie the Drift bear wheels"

would you buy them then? what if they were a little more tasteful? what if they were these?

and were called happy sunshine driftflower spl wheels

i guess to sum it all up, don't be so gulliable for a name that YOU THINK with the name touge that this wheel will give you an idea of lightness and strength. its marketing my dear watson.

lol... that was... informative. Like I said, no plans of drifting. Just saying the name of the wheel, and what I thought they meant in it's explaination. I know all about marketing schemes... I sell wheels and tires for a living, lol :P. "Oh I ran those same ones on my car last year, loved the smooth ride and wear quality ." lol. Just stating what I read in the catalog, and spouting it out to you guys in hopes that you could piece together what I was talking about. But so far one guy claimed I was talking about touge being drifting, one guy thinks I was asking how to drift, and if he sould for some reason sum it up for me, and another somehow went off on a tangeant about being a ricer civic guy who had a friend with an s14 who drifted or something? lol. I like how this board bashes on n00bs. Reminds me of growing up in a household with 6 siblings, lol. You get a few words out, then they get twisted into an agrument. I didn't even know what drifting was until I bought a 240, and someone on club240 called me a bandwagoneer, lol. He said I bought it because I wanted it to drift it, I was like "what the hell it drifting?" "Initial D? WTF is anime?"
- I don't race or drift
- Don't desire to race or drift
- Understand offset to size relation
- Want flush to fender wheels
That's it as far as facts go that I have stated, lol. Now ramble on about how I want to be a drifter, and how I used to be a ricer, and how I want to get into the drift scene. But make sure you sum it up into 20 words or less, lol.

No I would not, but if it was a tastefull looking wheel with a proper offset that would make it sit flush with my fender, then who gives a fuck if it was called the 'dorifto' or 'ricer' or even 'gay faggot' wheels. A name is just a name. I was interested in them because they were the only wheels I found in my store's dealer listings that had a decent enough offset to catch my eye, and had an attractive 5 spoke design.

ps: lol, those bear wheels are hilarious, I would buy them just to say I had them, lol.

I have to give you credit. You retain a good attitude even after some of Zilvia's most notorious assholes crapped on you.

btw, those are some fuckin ugly heavy wheels.

You'll probably see them on some idiot's z33 before someone puts it on their 240.

18's on a s13 is really quite dumb.
also unless I read It wrong you said you want 17's front 18's rear? Thats a great way to make your car handle like ass. What tires do you plan on running on this set up as well? Super super stretched ones? just get 9's on the back... Ya know what, fuck it,this cant be anything but a show car so just get what looks good. F function

No, I am not oging to go with these wheels. I'm just going to find some 17x9 +35's and run spacers on the front. Fuck the conversion and offset matching, lol.

Yeah, I try not to argue on the internet. Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still a retard. What say do people on the internet have about what I want to do, so I don't let it get to me too much if they pick on me. This site has it worse then any site I have ever been to though, lol. I see alot of this 'dog pile on the n00b' attitude floatin' around.

ps: A show car? Naw, I wouldn't put anything I drive into a car show, lol. I don't want to race, I don't want to show. But I DO want something that I feel is attractive for my car. I do like going fast (I'm going to court in 1 hour for a speeding ticket) and I hate driving cars who's handling is shitty. Just because you don't race doesn't mean you show (this board is always one extreme or the other, lol), this car is for me, and nobody else.

this is probbaly the reason im so inactive in the forum, that and the fact that I dont give a shit about what other person with $$$ falling out their ass think of my car, i know for a fact it looks proper for me and my situation and i wouldnt change my plans unless its benefiting ME. dont take it the rong way, but sometimes u just gotta jump on things and do it yourself.

Personally I think most of the cars on here are wack looking anyways, but I try not to loose any sleep over it.......lol

P.S. If your gonna own a S13 with SR20DET swap and or conversion, make the shit look good, one thing I cant stand about the 240 is who *ucking piasa you can make them look.

240SX's are a thin line between bad ass and wet-back......lol

lol. Then you get people like this ^^^^^ with very few posts who are desperately trying to conform with the top guys in a last ditch effort to avoid the criticism. They typically quote a pervious post that seems to be agred upon by the majority of the thread participants, agreeing with it at all costs, imediately followed by an off topic, and often enfeminate, compliment to another member with more posts. "Oh my GAWD! Your new sig is fabbo. It's just do DIE for! (que cheesy grin emoticon) " lol. Kind of a funny observation. But I find it to be typically acurate. lol
