good rain tires....
hey guys.... im about to buy a 240 for my girlfriend..... its within our price range and practical for us.. (a car i know how to fix.. and spare parts sitting around....) basicly a manual chassis for under 400... belongs to a friend.... and a auto ka and tranny for basicly free ( manual tranny parts for sale soon minus the tranny)
i dont think the s13 chassis is all that safe for her(just driving in the rain)... so im getting some 15x8.5 rims and 235/55/15 tires.. now.. a couple friends told me to get snow tires... because of the deep treads.... but i dunno... who has good experience on tires that are great for daily driving for the rain..... thanks for any replys.. -mark |

teach her how to drive ::shrugs:: i had to say it man... but if you want rain tires... go to the tire store and find any tire with a whole bunch of tiny slits in the rubber (snow) along with a water channel in the middle (rain)
:edit: im running http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes and im pretty suprised how well the cling to the curves on a rainy day, im surprised I haven't flown off the pavement yet. |

i work at Just tires...some good ass rain tires, would be the GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TRIPLE THREADS...kick ass tires... 10/10 wet, snow, and dry traction and 9/10 comfort and quiet ride (10 being the highest) the treads are crazy... and you get around up to 70,000 on daily driving...

ive found that wider tires seem to hydroplane more easily for me....so maybe 235's arent the best idea?

yea dont buy wide rims and tires they do hydroplane alot easier, think of it as a water ski, a real skinny ski is hard to get up on, but a big fat ski is real easy to stand on. but then again you dont want to go too skinny, then the sidewalls are weak and flex alot, i would go with some 195 if i was you
