S14 LCAs on S13?
You guys think there would be any issues as far as handling characteristics resulting from using the S14 LCAs on my S13 while doing the 5 lug swap? I know they're 10mm longer so I'm wondering. I know there will be more neg. camber, but I'm wondering about the wider wheelbase in the front.
Your two cents? Thanks, John |

Slightly increased negative camber, more turn in bite. 10mm is hardly a noticeable difference, and the change is at the bottom of the wheel anyway.

Ok so I'm No ultra mighty mechanic but depending on how far away the wheel is ftom the arm 10mm is a whole lot of change in angle. That 10mm could be as much as 17degrees. I havent gone out and measured the factory geomety but now i think i will. The greater the distance the more noticable the degree of change, your tire wear might be uneven but i don't think its unsafe. Please explain why 10mm would be negatable? I'm not tryin to be a jerk, I'm just a little confused. It's hard 2 switch from music mode to thinkin about car stuff so maybee I'm just high.

You are high. 10mm is less than a half inch, and that entire gain is at the bottom fulcrum point. Numerous people run this setup fine and there's very little wear if the toe is set right. For autocross/track use it's ideal. A set of camber plates can be used to pull it back in if so desired, allowing for even more fine adjustment.

I doubt it, moving the front LCA arm out 10mm is a HUGE difference, it may not matter to most 240 guys because they seem to runs lots of negative camber anyways.
P.S. Even just over a 1/4 inch is a major change in camber, everything being left the same and just the LCA is pushed out 10mm.

Ok, since apparently people can't read very well... I'm asking about anything BESIDES CAMBER. Thankyou for the replies, but I'm not worried about camber at all. Camber plates as far as I'm concerned are a neccessity PERIOD, and will be on my car.

Apparently you weren't reading Russ' reply. He mentioned how it effects handling. Also, widening the track using the LCA's rather than running lower offset wheels helps with scrub radius. Of course, if you are like me, you wouldn't mind just running S14 balljoints on your S13 LCA's so that you can get a lower offset wheel just for the look and for tire rotating purposes.
