Question to KTS Coilover owners, RE: Camber, etc

Hello all KTS owners, Sorry to start a new thread, but I am dreaming about the day my KTS's will arrive and thinking about a few things.

Mainly: I know that camber (front) has a direct relation to ride height (and other alignment specs) but I am wondering approximately what ranges of camber are you users of KTS Coilovers getting? Also, with your camber ranges or caber settings where are the marks set at on the caber plate set in relation to their range of motion.
For example, my KTS’s on my S13, at 'X' ride height, is 2.5 degrees - , my camber plates are all the way in (towards the engine) so that is the max camber I can get. etc…

Also, what kinds of wheel clearance issues do you guys have? What wheels (size, width, offset, tire) do you run/will clear?

Thanks for all the help guys, just thinking about some stuff and passing the time till they get here.

KTS seem to have a tad more clearance than other brands on the market, other than that I run less than 2* of camber all around, so besides that, can't help you.

SPL BITCHES! ALL DAY LONG!!!

Err hard ot dtermine, I had an allignment not to long before I placed my coils. Soon after amxing out the rear and dropping the front, I can only mae the prediction that I'm running close to -3 rear, and maybe high -2 in front (Simply criticly deducing on account of the tire wear). I say buy the SPL RUCA along with the KTS, and go ahead and schedule an allignment within the week.

I can't even determine my Toe or caster as I have Tein Tie rods/ends and forgot the setting. I shoudl really get an allignment.

You should watch out since toe will kill your tires faster then camber, just a heads up.

Well aware, emo bag head.

Turn in can be scary I was on the 57 yesterday and had to avoid a rather large piece of tread from a Big rigs tire, and well in the move from two lanes I felt some understeer. Nasty stuff, defintley need an alignment, but I be broke y0.

I was hoping to buy the rest of suspesnion components, but my funds were diminshed rather soon becuase of unforseen expenses.

The camber issue has a lot to do with strut tower design. Most plates max out at 2.5 degrees. I think is you use the ground control plates that sit on top of the strut tower you can get like 4. Otherwise slot the stut tower. You're looking at -2.5º @ full negative.

You measured this how?

And what kind of gauge? How long since calibrated, and how adept was its user? I have heard diffrently from guys at FA who are ME's.

i got an alignment. At full negative they are -3.0. That's what the computer printed out. I dont know when they calibrated their machine. If i had a handheld tool i would measure it again myself.

At full lock - the inside wheel, which is the wheel that's doing most of the steering in a drift, gets a lot of positive camber. I moved the camber out as far as they could, and even with the car just sitting there(suspension not compressed, no body roll) at full lock, there is still at least one degree of positive caster on the inside wheel at full lock. I assume with 4 or 4.5 degrees , the inside wheel will be @ 0º at full lock.

Finally got My KTS, they look good, cant wait to see how they drive.

Clarify:
I already have full links, alighned myself on a rack, I am justtrying to think of some numbers of what the KTS's cabmer will be at when I put them an my Z32 (S14) LCAs on as well (KTSs have slightly slotted bolts and camber plates). I know 14 LCAs dont give you crazy camber, I just dont want it to be too much (I.E. I want the camber plate to still have room to go in and out with 2 or so degrees of camber) thats why I asked this question. Cant wait to get the coils on and alligned and see how these handel and compared to other companies I have driven on.

Hey West..something..pimp, I PMed and emailed you some questions re. the S14 LCA MOD, I am getting ready to do and allign at the same time as coilovers at my buddies shop tomorrow and have a few questions. Email me please, and do you have KTSs?

Oh and PS, that positive camber that you have at full lock is due to the caster, not camber, ialing in more camber to get rid of it is not what you want to do, its supposed to be like that, but if you want to adjust it, change your caster angel to adjust camber when the wheels are turned.

Thanks for all the help,
mmtmatrix

What do you need to know, S14 FLCA+S14 Spindle on S14 5/4 lug hub, done. And perferably sleeves for the spindle bolts to attach to the Coil.

I too have S14 stuff by the way, on KTS.

Dude buy me beer and some food and I'll help install your stuff. Are you still in SB? Tommarow is my last day here so take advantage of it.

FUCK San Bernardino!!!!!!!!!!

No need for help, and no its not that simple. I have Yanak 5 lug S13 conversion hubs so I have to run S13 spindles. I am going to run reinforced S14 LCAs w/S13 ball joints and have some detailed questions re them... I already have KTS (and 5lug/full links) installed and alligned. Just wondering about details, sent ya a pm/email west.

The caster helps the wheel countersteer a little quicker, but i know it does add some camber gain through the steering range. I usually ran 8º. I think i'd have to run like 2º and rub the back of my fenders for it to make up for a whole degree of camber. I'd rather just run the extra camber
