Unhappy Rear End seems "loose"

Along with a noise when braking (sounds terrible, almost like my rear brakes are about to shatter back there, don't feel it in the pedal tho). I noticed my rear end seems a little "loose". I'm due for a near complete suspension upgrade/replacement (balljoints, tie rods, es bushings, strut bars, sway bars, tension bar, etc), was just wondering what may cause the rear end to be like it is (tire pressure is normal, thread is good). *Sigh* Poor girl needs work, just turned 190thousand today ^_^

Oh snap, forgot, this is a 89 240sx coupe with out hicas.

typically i woudl say

try installing subframe spacers
maybe rear shocks are blown
etc.

but damn 190k? most likely everything in your suspension.

Um. You have a s13 front end already. Jack the car up and put it on jackstands. Start moving stuff and see where the sound is coming from.

simple dude, 240s are old cars, so why not run and get an energy suspension kit, it comes with bushings for pretty much everything even for you girlfriend. install them and it will be like giving your car a full day at the spa. secondly try to score a rear sway bar from a hicas + energy suspension bushings, some subframe collars, and your rear should be more than stiff, all this for less than 200 bucks,

Speaking from personal experience, i had a similar if not the same clunking noise during braking and shifting. I installed SPL aluminum subframe bushings and the SPL aluminum diff bushings. The brake related clunk subsided but the clunk under accel, shifting, decel, is still there. I believe its in my diff. Just some food for thought.
