My ignition wont turn over. When I turn the key it makes a click noise and then nothing happens. I thought it might be the batery dying but I tried jumping it and it did the same thing. Also i thought it might be the fuses but they all seemed fine too. Any help would be great.

Do your lights come on and everything? Everything (raido, lights, air, ect...) comes on when you turn the key, just no engine turnover? What was the last thing that happened before it stoped starting? How long has it been sence its been started?

i had a similar problem w/ my 89 camry, it's been sitting in the garage for quite some times w/o a battery, so i got some old battery, and connected it up, it sometime turns and some times don't... i thought that maybe the pully are just kinda rusted in, so i tried to free it by wiggling and tuggin on the belt w/ the help of wd40, not very smart, got my hand caught... outch but this is all useless information

later on after i bought a new battery, it still wouldn't turn up, ultimatly, i got a new battery connector (the old one seem a bit worn out) and tightend it down well, and it started like it was brand spanking new...

so basically like tofu's said, porn is good, oh wait, i ment maybe electrical problem

It happened one day the car just didnt start again. i went to go get food, came out and nothing. I thought maybe the clutch broke cause all the electrical worked just wouldnt turn (have to push clutch in to start). SO I had it towed home and it was sitting on the street, I said what the hell and tried starting it up. Started right up. Drove it into the garage, thought , maybe it was the battery needed to charge so i let it run for a bit then turned it off. Next day, came out tried to start it, kinda had troulbe doing it, like it kinda grinded and then started. I turned it off and tried agian and nothing. At this point I figured it was the battery but when I tried jumping it nothing happened. Under the hood it sounds like the fuel pump is working and all but when I turn the key it just clicks once and then nothing. Could I have broken the ignition?

Have you checked the starter? Maybe I missed it if someone already mentioned it but that sounds like the most resonable cause to me. Try to roll/push start it. If it starts, it's probably your starter.

it did start once when I rolled it out. Does that mean its the starter? If thats the case how much do you think it will cost to fix?

My guess would be the starter. When you roll start it, your pretty much forcing the clutch and the rear drive train to turn your flywheel instead of the starter. If it started when you rolled it, it sounds likely that its your starter. Another less likely problem would be the ignition switch. The starter is easy to replace if your proficient with tools.

I have the EXACT same problem right now. When you turn the key with the clutch pushed in, it makes one click from the fuse box in the engine bay (a relay going off) and nothing after that. EVERYTHING in the car works fine, it runs fine when push started, every electrical thing works. So it's either the starter or the ignition coil. Where do I find the ignition coil and once I find it, what do I do with it? Do I replace it or is there a fix, or could it be a broken wire?

It was the starter, I replaced it myself today and it starts fine now.
