I am having a prob, my car when i start off at like a stop sign or light, and i press on the gas my car kinda moseys along sort of like it is hestatin to go, i have just done a tune up on the car and i dunno what is going on.... plz help

It is an 91' 240sx SE, and it is an auto, i got new spark plugs, new wires, new distibutor, new rotary in the dist. , new fuel filter, oil change, and air filter.... all the sparks, wires, distributor and everything just came strait from my nissan dealer.. so i dunno, also do wires have to "break in"?, it seems that when i give it the gas after stopping it sorta is bogged down, i just finished the tune up this afternoon hoping this would have fixed my porbs but it hasn't.. any one please help

Check around the manifold below your injectors for stains ...
"boggin-down" (something I just got done fixing) is sometimes caused by a faulty injector. Or maybe even something less expensive like a AIV Filter Check. Did it do this before the tune-up?

yes it did, one prob that i had before was the engine jumpin from the cheap spark plug wires that were put in from the previuos owner, witch are not recomended for my vehicle, witch was fixed with the new wires. AIV fliter check what is that?

Did your car have the problem when you first got it? 'Cuz if so, it might just be the tip-in retard, which is something in the ECU's program that is designed to do just what you described. I don't know why it's there, but I guess Nissan had their reasons. It should only last less than a second, though (never actually timed it). Does this sound like it might be your problem?

As far as I know, the only way to get rid of the tip-in retard is to have your ECU reprogrammed (or use a standalone ECU). That can be pretty pricey, though. You can get around the tip-in by doing a mild power-brake: put your left foot on the brake pedal, get the engine revs up a bit over idle (experiment with how high), and then let off the brakes at the same time you mash the gas. |
