Why isn't Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Pontiac, or any other american car manufaturers on there for the choice.  Since most of us live in the United States, I'm sure a lot of us have driven domestics before our 240.  I drove a 86 z28 before I got my 240.

bah...I personally hate when people bash other types of cars. &nbsp;If I had more money then I knew what to do with I would have alot of cars, including many domestic cars. &nbsp;I hate when people say domestics suck becuase that just adds to problems between import/domestic fans &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Every domestic car my family has owned has given us far more problems than the Japanese cars we've owned. &nbsp;Thus the reason my dad will only let me get a Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti, or Toyota/Lexus. He swears by Toyota/Honda, cuz we have had no mechanical problems with my teg or his yota pickup or my moms old toyota. Yet since then we've had 2 dodge caravans(piles of C$%P) and 1 Ford Explorer(not such a pile of C$%P) which have needed extensive matinence. By the way we bought my teg with more miles than any of the domestics have had. In conclusion, most domestics suck.

I cant say theres anything to spectacular about American cars. Ive personally never owned one, but all of my moms cars that have been american were just pos's. She had a Ford Probe....the Tranny went out 3 times and alternator 1 time. MY first car was a 1992 Honda Prelude. I swear it lasted forever. I just sold it with 204,000 miles. I was the 3rd owner and have never been more hapier with a car thats been so dependable. The only problem I ever had was the starter went out. I love my 240. Its the best car you could buy for 500 dollars.

for my family its been the other way around all the domestics we had been very dependable. and all the imports weve had so far have not been that dependable.

my 1st car was a 89 caviler
i bought my truck 2 years ealier but did not start driving it till this last august

You know, its real funny how people praise import everywhere..Just like alot of people here think that Japanese cars are the shit, overthere, they think that the big v8 muscle cars are the shit.....

there was no mazda either.... &nbsp;i had 2 rx7s before my 240. &nbsp;well, ive still got both of them, but they suck ass now. &nbsp;the NA needs an engine, and the TII was rolled. &nbsp;ope....

I think it is purely a personal preference when it comes to American/Import cars. &nbsp;Some people have had good experiences, some bad. &nbsp;My family will buy nothing other than GM vehicles. &nbsp;My dad hasn't bought anything but an Oldsmobile in over 30 years. &nbsp;His last one had 115000 miles on it before we had to put new brakes & front struts on it. &nbsp;Other than that, we put new tires, 1 new altenator, and a new serpentine belt on it (because of requested maintenance) and my dad did all of that himself. &nbsp;My parents now have a 1994 Chevy Silverado P/U w/ 18000 miles on it (yes, that's only 18000), 2001 Aurora V-6, and 2001 Tahoe. &nbsp;The only domestic car we've had problems w/ was the 1984 Buick Regal and my 1989 Buick Skyhawk.

My parents thought my sister was nuts when she bought her 1992 Talon TSi....."Why didn't you buy a Grand Am or Cavalier?"...."Because I wanted a cuter, quicker car....it has turbo &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>" &nbsp;Now she's got a 1994 Prelude and I have my 1996 240SX. &nbsp;My brother still won't break from the GM scene though--1995 Beretta Z24 and absolutely loves it--never has a problem.

We've had pretty much nothing but good experiences w/ both domestics and imports. &nbsp;Some people just have weird quirks w/ both types of cars.

Here's the thing though, american cars were always cheaper, first cars are cheaper in general cause we didn't have money, therefore a lot of us started out american... no matter what the quality is... and I stand by my Neon, that car was awsome, I still miss it.

i'm right with u on that one. and sayin domestics suck is about as ignorant as u can get. my best friends family has had nothin but good things with oldsmobiles. they had a 92 88 that was still running strong at 175k miles till someone else hit it and totalled it, and no there was no rust, it looked great with only regular maintenance (this was my friends first car so it was by no means babied either, we were TRYING to break it). now they have 2 intrigues, a new altima and a new avalon. one of the most dependable cars my family had was a 92 Grand Am, it survived through everything with regular maintenance (next to bulletproof), we still don't know why we got rid of it for a 98 Civic.
currently my family has a 96 Pathfinder LE (moms, decent...had its share of problems), 96 Taurus (dads, POS, but still runs after being constantly neglected), 98 Civic EX (sisters, good...but far from bulletproof), 97 Explorer Limited V8 (mine/sisters, nice but no fun to drive), and my 93 240SX (lets just say i'm surprised it still works <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> )

alright alright, since so much huff has been caused by my one generalized statement i'll clarify.

i'll be more specific, in general, domestic cars suck. trucks on the other hand, silverado/tahoe/suburban/ram/etc. are pretty good. but i still don't like them because they are so overly huge. as far as the new corvette goes, it's by far the best vette ever in every aspect, and is very affordable, for that i give it credit. but as far as the taurus/impala and cavalier/escort market goes, those cars suck. there is a reason that GM/Ford/Chrysler are having financial troubles. their cars simply don't compete with the new altima/camry/accord. &nbsp;cadillac, well, their trying to change things, but are still way behind BMW/Lex/MB and even audi. hell, infiniti is even better than cadillac. Lincoln? c'mon, what have they done besides make overly huge vehicles for sports/music stars? show me one passenger car from a domestic manufacturer that has better build quality than the imports. &nbsp;and to the guy that asked if i druel when i see an ol hemi cuda er whatever. no, i don't. while old muscle cars are cool to a certain degree, they just don't do it for me. there are some old cars such as the stingray/GT40 which are very cool, and i'm glad to see ford bring back. it'll be interesting to see how it turns out and the reaction from ferrari and company.

domestics dont suck, i hate it when people stereotype about cars. 90% of preference has to do with experience. plus the world isnt nearly the way it was 30 yrs ago. in the 60's it was cheap to pick up a car with a v8, throw some mods onto it, and take it to the strip. gas was inexpensive and plentiful, parts proliferation was high, and it was really fuckin easy to rejet a carb or redo an advance curve. that was cheap horsepower. personally i'd love to have a muscle car, but i cant afford it. that's why imports are so popular. they're cheap, dont use much gas, have lots of parts and aftermarket support, and are fairly easy to work on. people are the same, its just that your parents chevelle, charger, or mustang is now your civic, eclipse or 240sx. to quote methodman, "same shit, different day..."

I had an 86 Mustang GT. &nbsp;I got T-boned by a pontiac minivan at like 45 miles an hour. &nbsp;One side of my car was completely demolished and caved in. &nbsp;I was completely unharmed, and my car started back up and I drove it home. &nbsp;I never had any problems with that car.

I had a 86 Z28. &nbsp;Only thing i ever had to replace was a starter and a catalytic converter. &nbsp;(it was clogged, so I actually just knocked it out..never replaced it)

1988 Lincoln Continental VII LCS. &nbsp;This car did have its share of problems. &nbsp;Well...two of them. &nbsp;The air shocks screwed up, and the trip computer inside that would calculate random crap for you was a little off...but besides that....it was totally a sweet ride. &nbsp;Had a 5.0 ford v8 in it. &nbsp;Wasn't slow at all and could keep up with or take (at the drag strip) about any stock 240, and pretty much any honda out there. &nbsp;(not an nsx of course)

The only other import i've owned besides my 240 is an 88 honda accord. &nbsp;It stopped working at 90k. &nbsp;It had something to do with the fuel system, but I sold it cause I couldh't figure it out and a mechanic that looked at it couldn't figure it out. &nbsp;I'm sure I could have gotten it fixed though if I wanted it to get fixed. &nbsp;Boy was it slow.

i've went from nissan to chevy n back to nissan now. i see nothing wrong w/ a lot of domestics. i still wouldn't mind having a decent domestic car right now, but i still also like my 240.
