There is a way to unplug some of the sensors on the tranny that will eliminate the speed limiter. I can't remember which I believe it is 4th and 5th gear, but not sure will have to look at my boss's to be sure. I will get back to you on this as soon as i can.

I heard that cutting the 4th and 5th gear speedlimiter wont work for the SR's. Your gonna have to get a reprogrammed ECU or something.

I unplugged the sensors on the tranny(not speed sensor) then unplugged wire on ecu.
Did nothing for me, so i hooked up the tranny sensors limiter kicked in at 4500 rpm.
So then, I plugged back in the ecu wire reset the ecu.
Now! I don't know were the limiter is, NOT 4th gear 125, nor is it at 5th gear 5500rpm.
And i still have speedo how cool is that.
Still I guess it's better knowing where your limiter is........... so you don't hit it.

Jesus, is this 1991? Talk about a time warp from hell.

Cut the VSS and 5th gear switches at the ECU. Done. Better yet, install a DPDT switch in line so you can cut the circuit when needed, saving a CEL.

And seriously, this was the first thing I ever read on the internet when it was created. You guys need to start over in life if you haven't found it yet.

Vehicle speed sensor. Please, for the love of God, download an FSM and read it.

Most people join these forums to figure this and the "sleepy eye mod".
I have an anomaly. No one can explain why I still have speedo, I think i may have fried that circuit.

But if you cut the VSS, you don't get a speedometer reading, so that is kinda useless.

^^^ Cut it at the ECU...it goes to the speedo first, then the ECU.

Speedo still works, but ECU sees no speed signal. Easy.

How about you get off your lazy ass and check the FSM pinout. Or would you prefer someone to fly out and do it for you?

LIKE I POSTED I DONT KNOW WHAT VSS OR FSM IS AND THE WIRES TO THE ECU LOOKS LIKE A BUNCH OF JUNGLE VINES. so a pic or at least a wire color and location on the ecu plug would help out alot.

If you STILL don't know what VSS or FSM stand for, then maybe you shouldn't be cutting any of those scary jungle vines.

heres how to do it WITHOUT spending tons of cash on speed limiter removal bullshit.

1) get under the car, cut the power wire to the speed sensor. its the red one.
2) now, get a wire to run into the cabin, wire in a switch and put it somewhere for easy access inside.
3) get back under and wire it up.

now, when u wanna race - pull the switch and guess what? no speedlimit. total cost= 10 bux max. ur ecu cant read speed output so there is no limit. works great for me.

That's three times the work as cutting inside, plus you lose your speedometer. Cutting it inside takes less time, requires less wire run, and keeps the cluster intact.
