exhaust cam intake side! car wont start!

ok well i made sure that the motor was at TDC, cams and gears were lined up correctly. well i did some research and read that u need to move the teeth (or gear) 4 teeth clockwise from initail mark, so i did that and everything is snug and good. i put everything back together and tried to start it and nuthin just spins. soooo anyone have anyidea what could be wrong? thanx

You move it 4 teeth COUNTER-clockwise...

CCW.

...

Compare your stock intake cam...the dowel pin is at ~12 o'clock when the #1 lobes face directly up. Now, set the exhaust cam next to it, and face the #1 lobes directly up as well.

See how the dowel pin on the exhaust cam is now in the ~9:30 position? That's why you rotate CCW.

You're lucky you didn't bend valves...did you turn it over by hand before trying to crank it? If not, do that when you redo it, to be sure nothing interferes.
