alum 1 pc driveshaft woes... is this sound normal???

so I have a 1pc driveshaft I purchased from luisgonz and put in my car. Now my car has a problem where it sounds like it almost might even be resonating inside the DS itself at highway speeds and light throttle. around 70-75+ mph and steady hold or slightly decel level throttle my car makes this god aweful sound. almost like people who lick their fingers and run it around a wineglass type sound.

I have an attain 3 inch straight titanium exhaust (n1 style) on my car with a 3 in test pipe and dc sports headers on my NA KA. This is extremely annoyingly awefully loud and this is much louder and noticible over my exhaust!! anyone else out there have one and can comment on this? any other ideas or suggestions to help this short of pulling the thing off?

Yeah that sounds about right. Mine does it under light throttle or decel from about 2500-2800rpms in any gear. You get use to it?

I read on the news this summer that a DS snapped and fall out of a truck and killed a driver in a nearby car... I hope that won't happen here.

Perhaps call up the vendor and see what's going on? Again, I am speculating here... I doubt this is to be serious issue.

if you run a 1 piece you need to run a safty loop around it incase it brakes, most drag race/ and some road race tracks require it. stocker has the bearing carrier that works as it. wonder if you could get some great stuff or something put in the drive sahft to dampen the sound/vibration?

Mine has done it for years, it's just typical resonance for that type of piece.

My stock driveshaft does that because I have nismo motor mounts and a pucked clutch. Vibrations from the engine get sent down the driveshaft and to the diff. One piece is even worse because there is no rubber bushing at the front of the driveshaft. The japanese driveshaft doesn't have a bushing either and it makes a lot noise as well with my setup. What kind of clutch and motor mounts are you using?

I have Jordan gladman mounts which are just a big bolt stuck through a block of cheese (eurethane). Also have an rps max clutch (400lb tq capacity, street -sprung- non pucked disk w/2400lb pressure plate) My stock driveshaft didnt do it when I had that in and the harder mounts at all. Im used to it but it doesnt mean I like it. on highway cruising it can get pretty annoying and give you a headache if your cruising @ 80mph.

As far as the safety loop goes The stock carrier bushing bracket can be used as a loop. Just take the top piece and mount it on the bottom. My DS clears it fine and its about 4in OD.
