i tried using an easy-out on a broken coolant bleeder screw on the upper intake plenum... after a good amount of cursing and more then one broken easey out i ended up using another intake plenum i had.

you might have more luck. the exhaust studs are alot larger then the tiny ass coolant bleeder screw.

easy out works like half the time... usually when the easy out breaks inside the bolt then ur definetly owned... if the studs are still external and visible and u can get a vise grip on it... do that and smack it with a hammer.. that would definely fix it... other then that youd have to drill it out and heli-coil it..

use a good metal drill bit
Use good easyouts for the correct size (I used craftsman 52152 size m10-3/8)
Use a steady hand and a good drill
Use the easy outs with easy and slowly.
Heat and some PB Blast or WD 40 will help too!!
Dont break the bit nor the easyout.
A variable/reversible drill will work great.
Drill a small hole on the stud with the drill, go slowly and be sure to be in the center!!. Studs are steel, the head is aluminum!!.
Then use the easyout SLOWLY and work your way until it grab the easyout.
Hints!
Have someone spraying some pen. oil while you drill. This will cool the bit and help while heating the stud.
If you need to use the torch, beware not to heat the head too much or you can warp it. Is heating, not melting the stud!!.

Good luck

thanks. im hoping they wont be frozen in there. i dont know why they broke in the first place. i barely but any torque on them, and they just snapped off. the broken ends didnt have any rust on them to indicate they had been cracked. i had to snap all the DP/O2 ext. bolts to get them off to. i love old cars.
