Erratic timing issue sr20
When i attemp to read the ignition timing on my sr it is very stable at 15 btdc while the motor is cold but when it goes into closed loop,"warmed up" the timing jumps all around at idle. Also are you supposed to set the timing at idle or are you supposed to hold rpm at 3000?

ok well first, nice one on the tripple posts. Second, when the car gets warmed up it goes into open loop, not closed loop. Did you unplug the TPS? What motor?

Why don't you try asking us three more times, I don't think we got it yet.

kinda funny how your username reflects tech... but anyway, i assume you have a redtop? if so all you should do is make sure the car is warm, then unplug the TPS sensor, then time the motor, then plug the tps sensor back in... pretty sure that is the correct way to time it

Why are you working on your motor without the FSM? I'm pretty sure you're gonna ask what an FSM is too, so I'll just type it out for you now as part of the spoon feeding.
It is called FSM because it stands for Factory Service Manual. It will be your bible for when you work on your car. Only if you don't get the results that the FSM says you should have, should you post here asking about it. Why am I bashing you? Because it's obvious you have not even looked into the FSM, when that whole procedure was outlined for you. Shit, if you would have searched on FA or here, you would have found the answer, as you're not the only one that has ever tried to time a friggin SR godamned motor. I need to stop before I kill someone. Sorry but I am posting in a bad mood. |
