I want to beef up the engine and or car part... How could I beef it up with not so much cost involved? New cam? New pistons? What? I really want to make it faster but just do not know where to start. How much should I expect to pay for mods? Where could I start looking at mods? i want some people to see that nissan 240 can take other cars!
thanks for ideas

You should probably do intake and exhaust first. Header would be the next logical step.

Or you could focus on handling, it's more fun anyway.

ok...please don't &nbsp;be insulted by this, but I have to ask:
Do you know how an engine basically works?
Do you know any suspension basics?

and so he doesn't ACTUALLY have to answer that one way or another <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Engine
<a href="http://www.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm" target='_blank'>http://www.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm</a>

suspension
<a href="http://www.ukcar.com/features/tech/suspension.htm" target='_blank'>http://www.ukcar.com/features/tech/suspension.htm</a>

If you already knew all that, great. If not, thats a lot of really good info in there...we have MacPherson Strut suspension btw.

LanceS13 Yeah I know how an engine works... I took automotive classes which has covered engine, electronics, suspension, and I have taken an auto body class and automotive painting.

right...the reason why i said tell me everything was like what kind of intake or exhaust &nbsp;and like how much horse power should i expect and like where can i find them? i was not asking how as such an engine works. but where i can find mods that will last.

alot of people have told me to go and get a S13 Red-top SR20DET &nbsp;but that is like close to $2400-3000 there are no spec on it how much horse is it? can i get that kind of horse cheaper? where do they get those used engines from?

www.unstable-hybrids.com has the SR engine/tranny/ecu/etc. for $2400...not counting installation. &nbsp; They have about 205hp and about the same lb.ft. of torque. &nbsp; There may be other ways to get that number...like a really good naturally aspirated setup--I/H/E, cams, hi-compression pistons, port/polish, custom intake manifold, etc. $$$, but the good thing about the SR, or any other turbo engine, is that they're fairly easily upgradeable. &nbsp; It may &quot;only&quot; have 205hp when you put it in there, but that's not your limit.
For parts/ideas, check out the &quot;Links&quot; section on this site's first page. &nbsp; But before anybody can really help, you need to decide if you &nbsp;want to go turbo or stay n/a. &nbsp; If you want some serious power, go turbo....just 15, 20 extra hp, go n/a.

Right now all my mods are in suspension except for exhaust...so I'm still n/a. &nbsp; But I should be going turbo this summer....the hard part is deciding if I want to get the SR, CA, or a built KA+T.
SR20DET's and CA18DET's are Japanese engines. &nbsp; But like I said in that email, I couldn't tell you about street legality of it in your state. &nbsp;I live in MS where nobody really cares what's under your hood or coming out of your tailpipe.

He did say smog was an issue. &nbsp; The SR motor is not street legal in any state. &nbsp; It's only breaking the law if you get caught tho. &nbsp; The states that check emissions will realize that no car in USA CAME with the SR20DET. &nbsp;So... not street legal.
Anyway, most turbo cars will burn cleaner than a nonturbo car, but it is the startup that will kill the turbos.
If you go NA, then you have high comp pistons, lots fuel, larger cams, and mega-emmissions.

Just remember that by the time you've spent enought money on your NA to get about 190hp, you could have gotten a turbo that puts out over 200hp...
Knowing this... I think I might go the NA rout, until they get either a CARB legal SR20 or KA-T out.
